It would be incredible to be able to configure a connection so that
it tunnels through ssh. Being that most people have firewalls in
front of their mysql servers this would be extremely useful.

Why not just use your SSH client and make the tunnel
yourself? I think this is one of those "feature really
doesn't belong in this program" issues. Every OS I've used
has a nice SSH program for building the tunnels for you.

Whilst 'nobody''s comment is fully correct as far as it goes, it is not, I
submit the best way to organise a GUI application such as CocoaMySQL.

If you need a tunneled SSH connection then CocoaMySQL should have a widget
to make one, even if this means bundling the client code into the .app .

I certainly can't provide off the top of my head, a step by step recipe for
an end-user to set-up an SSH tunnel using an SSH client (which one did you
have in mind: RBrowser? Fugu? MacSSH? ).

    See http://www.math.harvard.edu/sectioning/sectioning_osx/index.html for someone
who perhaps can, and marvel at the hideous result! Or
http://www.nbcs.rutgers.edu/ssh/ssh_osx.php3 and bear in mind that those concise
instructions are probably aimed at computer scientists.

It is a perfectly reasonable request. If the O.P is still reading this, could you
check whether the latest beta is good for you; and if not perhaps suggest some ideas
    for this UI.
