When I click on the Classic Shell icon on my computer, it takes me to my Windows 8 modern start screen instead of showing the start menu. How can this be fixed? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem continues.

It should open the start menu unless you changed some settings. Look at the Controls tab in the settings and adjust what happens when you click on the button or when you press the Win key.

How do I get to the settings? Every time I click on the icon, it takes me straight to the start screen.
Two ways - right-click on the start button and choose settings. Or type "Classic Start Menu Settings" in the start screen.
I tried right clicking on the start button. Nothing happens. I will try the other option.
Thank you Ivo. The search option worked. I was able to change the setting to classic start menu instead of windows start screen.
