First of all thank you for a great product... so glad i don't have to deal with Metro UI.

I have noticed a glitch while running Windows 8 Enterprise on my MacBook Pro Retina via Parallels 8 (hey I like the MS version of Office better than Mac version and it allows me to keep a nice division between work and personal since this is a BYOD laptop I use for work, so don't judge... lol). Basically when I enter coherence mode the Windows Start Button stays on my screen in the bottom left corner. Normally in coherence mode the start menu is accessed by right clicking on the parallels icon. The way I have partially worked around this is by going into the start bar properties and auto hiding the start bar. I say partially because I still get the top portion of the start button in the bottom left part of my screen as well as the auto hide check box not saving when I restart my VM. The next time it boots up I have to right click on the start bar and recheck the auto hide box.

Thanks for taking a look at this. I would be more than happy to donate for the fix. Not a huge bug, but more of an annoyance than anything.

Again, thank you and kudos to a great product!!

So basically you are saying that the taskbar doesn't remember its "auto-hide" settings? If so, that's a Windows bug and nothing to do with Classic Shell.

That is part of it... the bigger issue is when I enter coherence mode (blended mode) the start button icon stays in the bottom left corner of the screen. Typically when in coherence mode the start bar is accessed by right clicking on the parallels icon and the windows start button is completely hidden.

the auto hide setting is how i have been working around it, but when I use it you still get a few pixels of the start button icon.

Sorry, I do not own a Mac or Parallels. I also have no idea what a coherence mode is. But from your description looks like you just don't want the start button at all. So hide it :) Uncheck the "Enable Start Button" setting.

    Ivo,

I disabled the start button and all is fine now... I can right click on the parallels icon and the start menu appears but no more fragmented partial image of the start button itself. So I get all the functionality without the partial image issue. So this works out great.

    Thanks for the suggestion,

    Jason
