Dear ChEBI curators,

I would like to create a generic glucosylceramide with an undefined sphingoid base (please see the attached structure).

I noticed that CHEBI:18368 and 22801 glucosylceramides have similar structures. Would it be possible to replace the structure of CHEBI:22801 with the generic one and change its hierarchy level so that CHEBI:18368 is a CHEBI:22801 ?

Open to discussion.

Thank you very much for your help,

Nevila Hyka-Nouspikel

    Hi Nevila,

22801 and 18368 are not the same compound in that 22801 has defined stereochemistry at the anomeric centre of the glucose while 18368 does not. As a result I have changed the name of 22801 (to bets-D-glucosyl-N-acylsphingosine) and created beta-D-glucosylceramide (CHEBI:83264) with the structure you provided and made 22801 is a 83264.

    Hope this makes sense,

    Cheers,
    Steve
