One of the places I sing karaoke still uses an old karaoke machine the plays CD+G cds. How can I get convert a zip with mp3 and cdg files to the old format?

      Hi Lew,
I tried to answer your question on SourceForge but it's currently not working.
The best tool that I used to use was called mp3gtoolz. However the website that hosted it has long gone. You can burn real CD+G disks with http://selectatrack-easyburn.software.informer.com/ (but I've never tried it).
I have used a few products int he past but they all seem to be gone now : CDRWin, Dart Karaoke.
However, MTU seem to still be going: http://www.mtu.com/index.htm
I'd give the selectatrack one a go - you do need a CD drive with good CD+G support - these are getting quite rare. MTU sell a couple of supported CD burners on their site: http://www.mtu.com/basics/karaokecdr.htm#SupportedSoftware
I've used the Plextor Plexwriter series successfully (for ripping disks). The last drive (still going strong) was bought about 9 years ago - Plextor Premium. I don't think they make any CD+G compatible drives any more either.
      I hope this information helps.
      Regards,Darryl

I use the Power Karaoke CDG Burner 2.It cost me $39.95 but does a good job. It has a ripping capability, a burning capability, and a format converting capability. You can download a demo for free and then buy the license you like it.

On a karaoke CD, the CDG video file seems to be appended to the rear of the MP3 audio file. That way, you can play the audio portion in a regular cd music player.

After spending the $39.95 on the burner, I got even bigger discounts on their other karaoke software. I came out ahead.

BTW, the KaraFun player software (version 1) can play karaoke directly from a karaoke CD in your computer's CD drive. The later versions of Karafun only play it from the computer's hard drive. The program is free.

Both of the above programs can be found with Google Search; however, be sure to download them from the original vendor. Others will probably include adware with the programs.
