burst core v1.1.3 barfs on filenames with questionmarks

I'm trying to download a torrent that contains a file that
has a questionmark in the filename. Windows cannot
handle this, and burst core v1.1.3 reports that it can't
create the file, and exits. Needs to convert
questionmark to another character.

I'd like to know what torrent program lets people make
torrents with questionmarks in their filename?
A questionmark is obviously not a valid filename character..
I cannot just "rename" the file because that would be
inconsistent. Do I replace the character with a _? a space?
what? What will another client replace it with?
Compatibility is an important goal when implemention open
specifications, you should be able to start a download with
any client, and finish it with any client.
