The local table stores the contents of the bibtex file that the user can save and modify. Although it is possible to modify the remote table, changes to this cannot be saved. To open a bibtex file for editing use File -> Open or CTRL-O. A new bibtex file can also be created rather than opening a file.

Enter the desired search terms in the search field and click on the search button to perform a search. Alternatively the user can press ENTER when the search field is selected. Once a search is performed the results will appear in the remote table. If there are no results then the remote table will be empty.

Highlight the desired references in the remote table and use the add button or ENTER to add them to the local table. The references can be edited either before adding or after adding to the local table. The unwanted references in the local table can be deleted by highlighting them and then using the DEL key.

Bugs

It is inevitable that there will some bugs in the program. Please report them using the issue tracking system on Github: https://github.com/Focus/BibtexImport/issues . I also welcome suggestions to improve the software.

To fill out a useful bug report please try to give as much information as possible, and if a bibtex file is involved, attach this. If I cannot replicate the bug I cannot fix it.
