BackupPC 1.4.0 released

Version 1.4.0 of BackupPC is available at http://backuppc.sourceforge.net. BackupPC is a perl-based high-performance, enterprise-grade system for backing up Linux, WinXX PCs, and laptops to a server's disk. Features include clever pooling of identical files, no client-side software, and a powerful Apache/CGI user interface.

BackupPC 1.4.0 has some significant improvements:

* BackupPC now supports tar (in addition to smb) for extracting host data.

* Support for special files, including symbolic links, fifo, character and block device files has been added.

* All unix file attributes are now saved (and pooled when possible).

* Various improvements to the CGI interface, BackupPC_Admin.

See the ChangeLog for a complete list of changes.
