Help! I'm trying to setup Awol 3.0.4 (I also tried 3.0.5) on my Mac OSX 10.3.9 server at work and I keep getting this error message: We have encountered some problems with the information you entered: You did not specify a Database Host. You did not specify a Database Username. You did not specify a Database Name. You did not specify a Table Name. Please go back and fill out any information you may have missed. I filled out all those fields and have tried as root and a user. Thanks for any help! Danny |

Now I know that this is probably a stupid question but I am just starting to work with MySQL and ENCRYPTION. Hi Topher, I don't need you to write anything for it as I am using Novell Identify Management (DirectXML) to do it. All I need to know is what is the SQL statement that I can use to ADD a new users password as we are populating the tables ourselves. I have tried using the SQL I mentioned below but it doesn't seem to have worked. When I try and log in as a new user, it says the password is incorrect. Where am I going wrong? Hi All, I am working with an integration product to synchronise passwords between a Novell server and this very cool in/out app. I was hoping that AWOL used standard MySQL hashing but I don't think so. Is it possible to do something like: update awol3_users set users_password=PASSWORD('testing') where users_username='joe'; I tried using the MySQL function PASSWORD to encyrpt the password but the output doesn't match what I thought it should be. Your thoughts? Thanks, Justin |

Greetings Alan - Yes, you must have PHP's register_globals set to "on" if you want to use any of the released version of AWOL. There's another version in development that does not have this limitation, but it's not finished yet (no scheduled release date either) - and we're also working on converting it to be more CSS-based, which should allow more flexibility in it's display properties :) Go ahead and enable register_globals, and see if that works any better for you :) Nathan. awo...@li... wrote: >Message: 1 >From: "Alan Oehler" <ala...@al...> >To: <awo...@li...> >Date: Wed, 5 Jan 2005 10:30:56 -0800 >Subject: [AWOL-support] Login issues > >I found the thread about using the 3.0.5 files, so before posting I = >removed the earlier 3.0.3 setup and got the later files. I found the thread about using the 3.0.5 files, so before posting I = removed the earlier 3.0.3 setup and got the later files. I have the same = problem: it's not recognizing the default user name and password. If I = look at the contents of the user table in the db, I see that first off, = the user name in there is (initial-uppercase) Admin, not = (intial-lowercase) admin as the documentation states. But "Admin" and = the default password also don't work. Of course the password I see in = the table when I do a SELECT is encrypted... I also tried "Passwd" but = that doesn't work, either. Then I found a thread that described how to manually reset the password = in the table using the command UPDATE awol3_users SET users_password =3D md5("passwd") WHERE = users_username =3D "Admin" limit 1; which worked fine; but I still can't get past the login screen. Looking = at the code, it seems I should be seeing errors if I enter the wrong = password. but I'm not. Switching to Firefox, I get a whole pile of errors that IE did not = display. (Looking at the source in IE, I see a lot of PHP code I don't = think I should be seeing -- essentially the include blocks.) From this = it appears that the code in awol-mysql_sessions.inc.php is generating = errors and echoing them to the browser. The gist is Can't connect to $SESS_DBHOST as $SESS_DBUSER"; echo " a.. MySQL Error: ", mysql_error(); die; } if (! = mysql_select_db($SESS_DBNAME, $SESS_DBH)) (then a bunch of the code itself is echoed). If I make a file with a simple statement to connect to the database with = the parameters I've specified in the awol-config.inc.php, like <?php $db =3D mysql_connect("localhost", "nobody", "wiseguy8") or = die("Can't connect!"); mysql_select_db("FelixDev",$db) or die("Ack! Can't select db!"); ?> it appears to work just fine. Might this be related to register_globals being set to Off? -Alan it appears |

Greeting all, I have found a solution to the infamous Login errors that many have had when trying to configure AWOL on a IIS server. It seems that it WAS related to the "register_globals" in the php.ini. However, I myself as others DID in fact have the option set to ON in the php.ini. I discovered that my system was not properly parsing the php.ini file and thefore the register_globals was defaulting as off.=20 To check if this is your problem, create a new file called info.php and insert the following code: <html><head><title>PHP Info</title></head> <body><?php phpinfo(); ?> </body></html> Save this file and run on your webserver. From there you should see if the register_globals is on or off. if its off then the following will solve the problem... It seems that upon installation php is not properly configured to point to the php.ini file, so you need to manually set it.=20 Go to a command prompt, then go to your php install directory (IE C:\php) then type the following command: php -c c:\windows\php.ini Modify the path accordingly. Next restart your IIS services from the command prompt; To stop the web sever enter: Net stop iisadmin=20 To restart the web server enter: Net start w3svc=20 This should solve the problem!! Good luck all, Josh. Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail transmission and any documents or = messages attached to it, may contain confidential information that is = legally privileged. Greetings Trevor - When you say that you're using the "newest" version, could you be a little more precise? The site on Sourceforge is actually pretty out-of-date (something I hope to be able to take care of later this year). The current stable version is actually 3.0.5-beta, which is neither on the AWOL Sourceforge site, nor the main AWOL site (Topher hasn't updated those files yet). I've added the 3.0.5-beta.zip release file to the Sourceforge repository, which I would suggest that you use. If it has not replicated far enough yet, you can also pick up a copy of it here: http://oss.theoslogic.com/awol-3.0.5-beta.zip This version has several bug fixes past the 2.x chain and the early 3.x chain, as well as making it more cross-platform friendly. Go ahead and try that and let us know if you have any further troubles with that! This was posted in January and may still be the case: Hey all - Please note the following (for all those who have asked recently on this. There is a notable bug in the original releases of 3.03 and 3.04 that caused the first admin login account to be created with a different password than the documentation notes. Also, versions prior to 3.04 / 3.05 use ONLY the crypt() function (which only works on *nix systems, and NOT on windows platforms). While we are working towards a full new release, you can grab my (stable) pre-release version of 3.05 which has fixed the above issues (admin account creation setup process fixed, took out all "crypt()" calls and replaced them with "md5()" calls, which work on all platforms) from the following site: http://oss.theoslogic.com/awol-3.0.5-beta.zip Note that this release will not work as an upgrade to an existing system that uses the crypt() calls (so if you're running a copy on a *nix platform, you won't want to upgrade to this yet). However, if you are starting a new install (or are having trouble getting other versions to run on the windows platform), you should give the above release a go. Note that, as some of the previous emails have noted, you must have safe_mode set to "off" and register_globals set to "on" in order for this application to currently run (we will be removing these dependencies in one of the future releases). -----Original Message----- From: awo...@li... The easiest I think would be to log into mysql with something like phpMyAdmin and reset the passwd in the users table. You should use the ENCRYPT function in the drop list in phpMyAdmin.
