Picking up on one of Giles's suggestions - I think integration with other apps, especially existing open source e-commerce solutions would be useful.

Perhaps a way to broaden the interest / user base of APLAWS beyond the local government arena is to show examples of it integrating with other applications. One example that springs to mind is the classic e-commerce "shopping basket" approach to selling products and services?

Many organisations looking to move to a CMS based approach to their websites will most likely have a need to be able to sell their products or services online.

      Hi,

What about an open discussion on the Aplaws+ Documentation. There are loads of aspect of the system poorly or non documented. This will be valuable for both current and prospective LA looking at Aplaws as a CMS platform.

      Cheers
      Francois

Or how about a quick talk about the configuration of subsites with regard to content sections, navigation trees, best practice config, example set-ups from individual councils etc.

the 'user group' is finalising our presentation but - to pick up on Francois - we will suggest that funds be spent on a user survey. we are thinking of people like us but this could extend to actual frontline staff using APLAWS. I agree this is needed (it's actually a bizarre ommission!) although we have done user guidance here at cambridge, which others are using, but it's certainly not comprehensive and needs proper testing.

I agree possibly also about SEM, although maybe this should be / would become net marketing in general. in this context it would be useful to know what people are doing/planning and in particular the issue of Google, where we've experienced issues with results.
