Hi!
I am using amavisd-smtp-20010808 with postfix 20010228
and KAVP and have a problem with attachments. They seem
to be messed up sometimes, especially when received by
mail clients on Windows computers. Some strange empty
lines appear between header tags and that is what could
cause problems. Additionally some reports have been
received that the keycoding is messed up from time to
time, but the genral problem is in screwed attachments
and headers.
I have seen there was some kind of a bug in older
version of amavis related to metamail. Metamail is
installed on our system as well, but I could not find
from any scripts or configurations if it is used somewhere.
I am using based BestLinux R3 which is more or less
close to Redhat 7.0.
Thanks,
Andrey Tarassov

Weird. Neither postfix nor amavis mess with message bodies.
Maybe some bugs in amavisd-smtp's smtp code?
That said, this version is completely unsupported. It is
basically a proff of concept, but Rainer will do no further
work on it.

Hum, actually amavisd-smtp is experimental. But it worked
for me, but actually I don't use win-clients. Can you give
me some more details whats actually going wrong?
amavis-perl/amavisd/amavisd-smtp do not use metamail. In
general I'd suggest to use amavisd.
I hope to be able to release a new amavisd-smtp version when
an amavisd release is available. But to keep the code
changes as small as possible, the use of Config::IniFile et
al will be abandoned.

There was a problem with headers of mail. Below is the part of headers,
note that there is some strange empty lines between them.
Content-
Type:
multipart/mixed;
boundary="=====================_5030165==_"
-
-=====================_5030165==_
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed
Some windows clients
complained they cannot receive attachments correctly and that some
header information is shown as a part of body of the message. I tried to
replicate the problem myself, but everything worked for me. In Linux
everything works fine anyways. The clients that use Windows say that
they have never experienced problems with mail before amavis was
installed.
But in general as I understand it was not a good idea to use
that amavisd-smtp snapshot and the best solution to the problem would be
to turn to amavisd-snapshot-20010714.
Thanks,

Or the 20011031 snapshot + patch (!!) I released a few weeks
ago.

I have tried both and they don't seem to be working on my system... The
messages get "(transport is unavailable)" status and are not
delivered. Perhaps the problem is that I am not scanning mail that comes
for the localhost, but the mail that is relayed through the server.
I
have now installed postfix-20011210-snapshot and reinstalled amavisd-
smtp-20010808 and this combination is working fine except that there
are some complaints from windows users...
