For the record, despite lack of much activity on this site, AFW does work, is reasonably easy to tweak and is still working for me 2.5 years on from when I originally installed it.         I have it as a second proxy installed behind Popfile.  I use popfile to categorise mail into subject areas including junk and then use the popfile classifications as whitelist.  Anything that doesn't get though stays in the AFW queue and every few months I clear it out 100 messages at a time with a cursery scan for false positives which are extremely rare due to Popfile's extremely good accuracy.  I don't use blacklist functions.
