Hello All ActiveLock Users, This is the last email you will see from me as the project administrator.= =20 Over the past several days I have been working with three new project=20 administrators and now they are eager to get things under way. After seeing= =20 some of the plans these new developers have for ActiveLock I have renewed= =20 faith that the project will move on and that it will be better than ever. I= =20 encourage all users who want to develop on the project to send an email to= =20 the new project administrators; you will find them hanging around on=20 act...@li....=20 The new project admins are: Terrence Kuchel, Ishmael, and Scott Nelson. I= =20 hope you will show them the same level of support that you showed Thanh and= =20 myself when we started working on version 2.0 And now some last shameless plugs. The new admins have set up a beautiful= =20 forum located at http://activelock.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/index.php also=20 know that project development continues at SourceForge.net<http://SourceForge.net>and there are lists at SourceForge on which you will find support and development news for ActiveLock. Yahoo groups has been deprecated and I=20 encourage everyone to use act...@li... for= =20 development and act...@li... for general=20 ActiveLock chatter.=20 I wish you all the best of luck under your new leadership and hope to see= =20 ActiveLock grow to becoming a common method of protecting software used by= =20 developers worldwide. Happy Development, -Mike --=20 ________________________________ Michael E. Is there no one out there that would like to take over the role of the=20 ActiveLock project administrator? Come on people speak now or forever hold= =20 your peace. Effective May 1 if no project admin steps up its OVER the=20 project will be declared abandoned on SourceForge and everything you have= =20 now is all that you are going to have, there will be no more releases no=20 more updates no more official support, its all done. So somebody step up.= =20 Email me if you are at all interested. Keep ActiveLock alive! -Mike --=20 ________________________________ Michael E. However I now have a problem. A user installs and unlocks my software on their PC with no problem. A second user with an account on the same PC (but different privilages) tries to run the program and gets the following (see image) Run-time error '26001': Failed to set registry value Key:'- 21474836446',Section:'SOFTWARE\Nelco\...(some hex codes in here)...',Key:'6C335A0B432642' to value:" If it is relevant the first user was an administrator. Clearly I need to clean the registry but I don't want users to have to do this. Can you provide any background information on why and what is actually going on? I don't want to stop using activelock but clearly this is a big problem for me Regards Steve ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=526386&aid=1156506&group_id=70007 |

Hi Ambski. As I understand, you use AL v1.5 and you receive software codes from your users in lower case format, correct? All codes AL1.5 generates, both softwarecodes and unlock codes are in hex format (the numbers 0 -9 and upper case letters A-F). My first guess is that your users maybe write down the codes in lower case, regardless of what they read on the register form. Check this out... Here is the test case: 1. Open ActiveLock2 Test App and go to Registration tab 2. Generate a request code and copy it into the Admin tab 3. Select Licence Type: periodic 30 days 4. Apply the key to the registration tab (click on register) 5. Exit the application 6. Move the date forward 31 days 7. Open the application and you get "License expired" message 8. Close the application and set the system date back 9. The application continue working without any problems ----- I think the problem may be LastUsed is not updated if "License expired" condition is met. Needs further investigation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Michael E. Isnt this just because the VCODE is the same? He probably didnt regenerate the vcode for the new application name? Or does the application name not get used here? > Support Requests item #1013061, was opened at 2004-08-20 18:41 > Message generated for change (Comment added) made by th2tran > You can respond by visiting: > https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=526386&aid=1013061&group_id=70007 > > Category: None > Group: Support Team >>Status: Closed > Resolution: Accepted > Priority: 5 > Submitted By: Andy Kirk (andykirk) > Assigned to: Thanh Hai Tran (th2tran) > Summary: Module Support > > Initial Comment: > I have used ActiveLock 1.8 in many projects for a while > now, but have only just found about this new version 2. > > I have an application now, which is split into three > modules. I have an application now, which is split into three modules. Each of these modules (in the same binary) need to be licenced seperately, so that the user can choose which of the modules they want to run. i.e, Licence 1: Module 1, Module 2 & Module 3 Licence 2: Module 1 only Licence 3: Module 2 only Licence 4: Module 2 and 3 I though that one way to do this would be to support three seperate active lock components, each with a different application name, and then build a screen to allow the user to liberate the modules they need. The problem with this is that when I attempted to generate the application codes for the three applications (ProTrack-SM, ProTrack-CM, ProTrack-AD) all of the codes generated for each application appeared to be the same. Please advise if the desired solution is possible using the ActiveLock product. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Thanh Hai Tran (th2tran) Date: 2004-12-17 09:55 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=797792 Closed since there's no further followup questions by originator. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Thanh Hai Tran (th2tran) Date: 2004-08-20 19:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=797792 Hi Andy, You're on the right track. But what you need to do is: you need to generate a different Software Code for each of your modules. You can't use the same code for all 3 modules, otherwise the generated license will be identical. We will likely implement modular/feature based licensing in 2.1. But for, your suggested approach is the way to go. /Thanh ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=526386&aid=1013061&group_id=70007 |

Initial Comment: At step 4 in the ActiveLock 2 tutorial, a message box will appear stating that there is no valid license. This does happen, but my main form opens up immediatley after that. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong. I have not gotten past that point b/c it seems that it would not let the form open. Is this correct>> Yes, but only because that's the way it's programmed in the tutorial. Instead of (and in addition to) that message box, you could just as easily program the application to terminate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=526386&aid=1085430&group_id=70007 |
