Sync Bookmarks Utility News

Sync Bookmarks Utility has not yet been tested with Windows Vista. As a result, compatibility with this new version of Windows is not guaranteed.

SeaMonkey 1.0, the new Internet suite based on Mozilla 1.x, was recently released. Sync Bookmarks has been tested with SeaMonkey 1.0 and is confirmed to be compatible with it.

Sync Bookmarks will automatically recognize your SeaMonkey user profile(s) and will therefore be able to import your IE Favorites into your SeaMonkey bookmarks.

Users should remember to run Sync Bookmarks only when SeaMonkey is not running to prevent possible corruption of your bookmark data. Sync Bookmarks will not run if Mozilla 1.x or Netscape 6.x/7.x is running simultaneously - users are prompted to exit those applications first and then rerun Sync Bookmark. Recently, the Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit organization overseeing the development of the Mozilla 1.x suite, has announced that the development of the Mozilla suite will be transitioning to a community-based effort outside of the scope of the Foundation. This new release contains minor bug fixes and enhancements. Now available from the Downloads page.

This release fixes a program execution problem on Windows XP systems. Windows XP users no longer have to set Windows 95/98 compatibility mode on the executable files SYNCBKMK.EXE and TKSYNBMK.EXE.

Please note that Version 1.01 is a Binary Update; the source code has been recompiled, but no changes has been made to the source code itself. Users interested in the source code release can still download the source code for Version 1.0.

Windows XP users may experience problems starting the Sync Bookmarks Utility. For more information on this issue, and steps to resolve it, see "For Windows XP Users" in the User's Guide.

Sync Bookmarks has been tested with Mozilla versions 1.0 to 1.3 (inclusive) and Netscape 6.0 to 7.0. Sync Bookmarks will now display a message on startup if Netscape 6/7 or Mozilla is running concurrently.

The system requirements have changed. Sync Bookmarks will not work with Netscape 6.0, because it already has an automatic bookmark synchronization feature.... read more
