New citizen releases made for windows and linux

We have just released binary builds of the citizen code for both Windows and
Linux i386 operating systems. You can find them at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=4058 along with the
release notes. Instructions on how run and control the application are
located in the release notes.

This release was made for a couple of reasons. First, many people were having trouble getting all of the software needed to build the application compiled
and working. This release an easy way for people to try out the software.
The second reason is to get more people using the software so we can test some
of the changes made in the networking and server code. Please report any bugs
you find to bugs@interverse.org or on the sourceforge interverse project page.... read more

Windows port of citizen is complete

The windows port of the citizen code is working now and in cvs. You will need to have visual studio and a working copy of Crystal Space v.18 to get the code to compile. You will also need to download the lib/win32/OmniWin32.lib file from cvs to link with. We are currently working hard on getting the next release of the code complete and are currently looking for more developers to help with the effort. If you are interested in helping develop the citizen code or if you would like to help test the release, please send an email to info@interverse.org and let us know!

Windows port of the citizen code

Work on the windows port of the citizen code has been started. We are working to integrate the crystal space libs and dlls that are needed to support the citizen code in the windows environment into the project files. We plan on having the citizen client support Linux, Windows and MacOS X in the next release. If you would like to help out with any of these porting efforts, or would like to port the code to a different platform, please send a note to info@interverse.org . We are also looking for developers to help with adding features and to work on the user interface.

Citizen updated to support CS .18 along with some new models

The Interverse Project's citizen code in cvs has been updated to support the new Crystal Space .18r001 release. Many code changes were necessary due to the extensive changes in CS to move a lot of functionality out of the engine and into plugins. These changes are only available in cvs at the moment. We are working on finishing up the new functions for the next release, as well as a port of the software to windows. Our goal is to support as many platforms as possible. ... read more

Welcome to the new Millenium!

Here we are in 2001! Development slowed down a little over the holidays, but now we are back and ready to start crunching some code once again. We are still looking for people to help out with creating more maps and models. We are also looking for c++ developers to help out with the citizen code base. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please send a note to info@interverse.org and let us know.

Citizen code updated to work with CS .17

The citizen code in CVS has been updated to work with the latest Crystal Space release, version .17r002. If you are trying to run code from CVS, please make sure you update your Crystal Space builds. With this code update also comes a new map for the interverse. It still needs some work, but pretty soon we will have a much bigger place to walk around in.

First Code Release

We will be making our first code release soon. Until then, I would like to talk about what the code will be like and what we will need help developing.

Our initial code release is an application named citizen. Citizen is an interverse client that is based on the CrystalSpace 3d engine ( http://crystal.linuxgames.com/ ). You will need to have a working release of CrystalSpace (release .15r002) in order to compile citizen. Initially citizen will only support Linux and Solaris. However, the code base is very portable and will hopefully be available on all major platforms after the design has matured a little bit.... read more
