Some Screenshots But No Release (?)

I've put some screenshots and the most current versions of both manuals (now matching the latest CVS version of pdeppd) online at http://pdepp.SourceForge.net/ .
Development is going fairly well, however although the current CVS version of pdeppd contains a wealth of improvements and bugfixes over 0.3 Gargle Blaster I'll probably have no time to make a new release soon. "0.3.1 Heart Of Gold" was planned to be released last week, however it currently looks as if it never will be.
If you plan to play with pdeppd, check the latest version out of CVS (https://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=37987).
0.4 Still Unnamed ;-) will be released in about a month of so, so stay tuned!

pdeppd 0.3 Gargle Blaster tagged

Today PDepp Webserver's third milestone release
has been released. This release includes about
6400 lines of source code (with comments)
and features an improved HTTP
parser, MIME type support, improved security,
up to 1000 parallel freely configurable log files
and countless bug fixes. 0.3 Gargle Blaster is
about as fast as the Apache webserver and the
first really useful release of the PDepp
Webserver.
HTML versions of the "User's and Administrator's
Manual" and the "Programmer's Reference Manual"
are included in the main tarball and will soon be
available online. PostScript versions have been
released as separate files.
Have fun! :-)

pdeppd 0.3 Gargle Blaster delayed

Unfortunately the 0.3 Gargle Blaster release has been delayed for about 2 weeks now. As it would have become the least polished of all releases and would have been less usuable than 0.2 Improbability Drive, that's not too bad news. :-)
It will be release in a week or two, when it's ready and it'll probably rock. (At least compared to all previous versions of pdeppd. ;-)
Stay tuned!

The Gowth

As we just noticed pdeppd has passed the 5000 lines border, now consisting of 5178 lines of C code with comments. (not counting the autoconf files)
If that's no reason to celebrate, what else is?

PDeppd 0.2 IMPROBABILITY DRIVE tagged

Today PDepp's second milestone release, 0.2 IMPROBABILITY DRIVE has been tagged. New features include multiple parallel connections, an HTTP parser (currently implementing a subset of the HTTP 1.0 protocol) and a static file data request backend.
This is the first working release of the server, so try it and have fun! :-)

PDeppd 0.1 Vogon tagged

Today PDepp's first "milestone" release, "1.0 Vogon" (the "ugly duckling" of all servers ;) has been tagged. From now on development will concentrate on implementing the http protocol subsystem.

project started - but was does PDEPP mean?

Hi! Okay, yet another web server project has started. :-) In the next few months a web server will evolve from the void.
However we still need a meaning for its name, PDEPP. Well, obviously it HAS a meaning but none any "outsider" could understand. ;-) So who knows a meaning for the "acronym" PDEPP, the more recursive the better?

Yours,

Interneci (Gunter Ohrner)
