Hi all, This release comes with updated server list providers, because napigator.com (the site XNap used to fetch servers from), has been down for some time. All folks who had problems with getting or connecting to servers are definitely recommended to upgrade. The server list providers can now be changed conviently from within XNap as well, the way it has been for some time already in XNap 3.0. (The latter unfortunately doesn't seem to work at all for a number of people, which is why we're releasing this update for 2.5.) Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@xn... http://www.xnap.org/leist/ |

Hi all, This release fixes a rather critical bug that caused large amounts of tcp sockets to remain in CLOSE_WAIT state forever. (In XNap v3, this bug was fixed with the release of the OpenNap plugin 3.0-pre3.) Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@xn... http://www.xnap.org/leist/ |

Hi all, A new version of the core (beta5 -> beta6) and updates to the OpenNap plugin (pre2 -> pre3), the overnet plugin (1.1.2 -> 1.1.3) the ICQ plugin (1.1.3 -> 1.1.4) and the Limewire plugin (1.1.3 -> 1.1.4) have just been upload to sf. Here are the specific news for the above releases: XNap 3.0-beta6: Some smaller bugs were fixed in this release of the core package. OpenNap Plugin 3.0-pre3: Several major bugs have been fixed in this release, so for instance the problem that caused server connections to fail with a "wrong number of arguments" message and the problem with enourmous amounts of dead tcp sockets in CLOSE_WATE state. A number of smaller bugs have been fixed too. Limewire Plugin 1.1.3: This plugin has been updated to a newer limewire core. ICQ Plugin 1.1.4: Some smaller bugs were fixed in this release of the icq plugin. Overnet Plugin 1.1.3: A number of smaller bugs have been fixed for this release of the overnet plugin. Enjoy :) Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@xn... http://www.xnap.org/leist/ |

Hi there, This release fixes some stupid bugs that should have never made it into 2.5. The filesize numbers that appeared in filenames are no longer there and the non-startup problem that all people upgrading via our automatic update feature encountered was fixed. The latter was actually due to a stupid oversight of mine, and I'd like to apologize for the trouble this has caused; I'll try to be more careful in the future... Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@xn... http://www.xnap.org/leist/ |

Hi there, First of all: the main purpose of this release is to provide me with an excuse for not learning for my university test tomorrow ;) Apart from that I'm tempted to adopt the style of a Sun manager by talking about how XNap 2.5 has now entered it's official End Of Life (EOL) process and about the alternatives we are offering to our customers as a replacement ;) OK, sorry for the semi-funny ramblings, here's the usual summary of the major changes, along with an explanations what this EOL stuff has to do with XNap 2.5: No new features have been implemented but a number of those bugs that were still fixable[1] in XNap 2.5 have been fixed, such as unremovable items in the download list, very mysterious file deletion code that might even have caused resumes to fail completely and transfers not being stopped when XNap is exited. The only other major change is that downloads started with this version can be resumed with XNap v3, which offers a better upgrade path for people going from XNap 2.5 to XNap 3.0. And now to the EOL stuff: This will be the last release for the 2.5 branch unless major dataloss or security bugs crop up. As some folks might have already read in our bug tracker, we will continue to support XNap 2.5 until the first -pre release of XNap 3.0 hits the road. From then on everything regarding versions < 3.0-preX will go straight to /dev/null ;) Have fun, and, if you haven't already done so, be sure to try out XNap 3.0! Cheers, Yven [1]: Especially the most severe problems like for instance the various deadlocks are rather difficult if not impossible to fix within the architecture of XNap v2. These issues have (hopefully) been addressed in XNap v3. -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@xn... http://www.xnap.org/leist/ |

Hi, First of all: If you haven't tried the new XNap 3.0-beta2 release yet, do so now! ;) The 2.5-pre3 release is less existing, coming with some new informational messages (concerning copyright violations and some such), some small bugfixes and logging of chat sessions. Hi all! This release adds import and export functionality for files in .wsx format and should fix a serious bug in the server communication code; apart from that the hotlist is now saved as soon as a user is added to prevent data loss in case of crashes. Enjoy :-) Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi all! This release adds redirector functionality (backported from the xnap3 module which is not yet in a releasable state) and fixes a bug concerning files not being closed properly. Apart from that it contains a bunch of new icons. Enjoy :-) Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi all, this release should fix the problems people had with bandwidths not exceeding a certain limit, away/autoresponder functionality has been added, and the Audio mimetype finally finds mp3 files as well. This release also contains updates to the German, the French, the Spanish, and the Italian translation. Thanks for the latter go to Max Rotunno from Italiaware (http://www.italiaware.net), who sponsored this translation. People in need of Italian localization for their software might want to check out the services of his company! Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi all, This release contains some smaller changes which might fix some strange=20 problems with connecting to servers that people on Mac OS X reported. Apa= rt=20 from that this release will hopefully be stable enough to end up as=20 2.4-final; more or less the only remaining problem is that there seem to = be=20 some very nasty issues on Windows XP/2000, causing random reboots for som= e=20 people. Unfortunately this seems to pertain to all 2.4-preX releases and = very=20 much looks like a strange Windows respectively Java on Windows bug which = is=20 somehow triggered by XNap 2.4-preX. Should you encounter these problems=20 please tell us (via the feedback function or our forum) with as much=20 information as possible. (including but not limited to the number of shar= es=20 and server connections, details about your hardware and what version you'= ve=20 used previously.) Hi all, this release contains quite a lot of important bugxfixes, remote queueing= =20 should work much better now thanks to the work of Shinada Atsushi (AKA=20 heavy_baby), a problem with the opennap listener being blocked forever du= e to=20 erroneous requests has been fixed, the problem of eternally stalled downl= oads=20 should be gone and some other smaller fixes have been applied. Improvemen= ts=20 include transfer loggging which can be used to generate stats with webali= zer,=20 more file extensions in the search filter and a readded user menu in the=20 toolbar to help mac users not familiar with the right-click context-menus= =20 that are used in many places in XNap. Hi all, this release fixes some smaller bugs in the hotlist panel, a serious data corruption bug that could be triggered in a few circumstances, a problem with restarting the network listener on a different port without notifying the server, and some other smaller things. This release also adds Chinese and Dutch as available user interface languages thanks to Liu Emile and Victor van den Bos! Cheers, Yven PS: there seem to be quite some people for whom 2.4 is totally broken upload-wise. If you're one of them please tell us, with as much informations as possible (at least your operating system, your Java version and whether you're behind a firewall or not). -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi all, Ok, after a long series of beta releases we finally have another -pre release :-) For those upgrading from 2.3, the most important changes are probably the new advanced user handling, major stability fixes, drag&drop in the library panel, download directory selection based on mediatype, and the new Japanese localization. For those upgrading from 2.4-beta6, there are yet more stability fixes, a finally working native menubar on Mac OS X, the ability to globally disable Tooltips (mainly useful for Mac OS X, where tooltips produce nasty freezes in some situations) and fixed leechers controls which produced upload problems for people who had them enabled. hi all, ok, here it is: another release from the project with the fastest release cycle on earth ;-). Entering the remote queue of WinMX users should be working correctly for all versions of WinMX now, the resume repository should be correctly imported, some more synchronization problems have been fixed (which might cure the problems people still encountered on Mac OS X), and finally XNap comes with complete Japanese localization for the first time! hi all, this release is only relevant to Mac OS X users. It removes a property that was intended to give XNap the native Mac look with the menubar at the top, but which unfortunately doesn't work, and caused XNap to fail when starting up. The only other change is the addition of the Mac OS X specific "open" command, which should make it possible to open files from XNap with the correct program. (actually the one associated with the given filetype in the system) Cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi all, this is a major bugfix release. Hopefully the crashes many people experienced are fixed now as a result of a better swing synchronization. Banning users should be working again, limits can be set on a per user basis now, the queue position is shown in the transfer panel, already existing files can be resumed with a particular search result and there are a fair number of other bugfixes and improvements. hi, this beta release contains quite a lot of new features, such as more powerful user handling, full path sharing, a heavily reorganized and now much better looking preferences dialog, drag&drop in the library panel, numerous bugfixes, etc. Please test it as much as possible! cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

hi, I've just finished the 2.3 release which contains some smaller fixes backported from the HEAD branch and thanks to Stephan Hurler an updated French translation. cheers, Yven PS: I really hope that all went well with this release since there were much greater problems than I had expected. (the Makefile rules break horribly when the debian version has the necessary -release suffix; and BTW, Stephen: changing getSubVersion() in xnap/plugin/nap/net/msg/client/ClientMessage.java to getNextVersion was the correct compile fix for the backport of the ServerVersion changes wasn't it?) -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi, Some more preferences have been backported from the HEAD branch, the Shares in the Library Panel have been moved to the top [1], and the german translation has been updated. Basically this is 2.3, but I really wanted to avoid the problem of releasing 2.3 and then having to notice things like missing identifiers in some property file afterwards ;-) cheers, Yven [1] this will hopefully reduce the number of "my entire harddrive is shared and XNap won't unshare it anymore, haven't you guys at least a tiny bit of security awareness" complaints. -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

hi all, XNap 2.3-pre1 is out, which fixes a rather serious bug in the transfer code, which could result in completed files being retried forever. Apart from this critical bugfix and some other small improvements this release is basically the same as 2.2; if no new bugs crop up, we'll simply promote this to 2.3 without any further changes and the current development version will then continue as 2.4-pre1. Thanks go to Felix for finding and fixing the bug and to Steffen for backporting the code! cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |

Hi, I've just finished the 2.2 release, which is basically 2.2-pre3 with the upload corruption bugfix and some other smaller fixes backported from HEAD. Apart from the bugfixes it comes with spanish localization for the first time, thanks to Daniel Farfán Muñoz. cheers, Yven -- Yven Johannes Leist - le...@be... http://www.leist.beldesign.de |
