Hello, From the Synergy homepage: http://synergy2.sourceforge.net : Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It's intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s). In short, with synergy you can control your handheld with your computer mouse and keyboard... I patched synergy 1.3.1 to compile on Familiar (which uses diet-x11). The synergy client was successfully tested on a simpad, but should work on any handheld (please send me some feedback if it doesn't) http://devernay.free.fr/hacks/opensimpad/v0.8.4/updates/ I have the .bb and patch ready, if any maintainer would like to review these and include them in the Familiar git. Thanks to Thomas Winkler for testing. Fred |

Hi Albert Calibration problems indicate defects on the touch screen side. I guess you exchanged the LCD module with the touch screen. If so the touch screen itself should not be the problem. The other cause can be the touch screen digitizer. Either it picks up noise from the back light inverter or it is broken. There are filter capacitors for the touch screen. You find them between the micro switch and the 100uF capacitor. Hi, I'm looking for a working CL4 hh.org bootloader, possibly with the sources for the latest bootloader for all the simpads. That way, we can update the installation instructions found at http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/SimPad for those who have a CL4/Tsinuspad, I made a small enough GPE image so that you can try it out, provided you have an hh.org bootloader to flash it: http://devernay.free.fr/hacks/opensimpad/20060320-fam083/images/gpe-image-light-v0.8.3-simpad.rootfs.jffs2 fred |

Hi Fred, Thanks!!! It is not the first time when your feeds and images put new life in SimPads :-) Thanks once more. And apologise for extra traffic - I allowed myself to download all your new feeds last night (wget was busy for quite some time...). PCMCIA LAN networking works now, NE2000 clone is properly recognized and works well (I saw DHCP lease on my server). However, I (still ?) have problem with mini-browser. It does not display web pages. I will investigate a bit and, if needed, report on mailing list. Hi all, if someone is interested - i'm just uploading a new GPE/Familiar based image for the Simpad SL4 to this location: http://handhelds.org/~florian/simpad/gpe-image-simpad-20051123214910.rootfs.jffs2 After Koen added the APM fix for the Xserver suspend is working properly. Wireless netwoking (using the orinoco_cs driver) works. The image includes latest GPE bits which are close to the 2.7 release as well as gaim and Sylpheed. Enjoy! Hi, my new Simpad arrived yesterday, a Swisscom CL4. and I spend the evening trying to get linux and GPE running on it. It was very cool to finally hold one btw, she's got a bigger behind than most photo's suggest, but I've been whishing for a handheld computer with a decent screen for a few years or so, and I'm not very picky at this price. When I got the hh.org image booting (penguing on screen) and I was told to reset, it seemed to die horribly (screen fading away in a _very_ ugly way). At first I thought it died (only garbage over tty), but after some reading at the fora I got a hh.org boot prompt and I'm able to use minicom to transfer files... Wohoo! It's my first simpad, so please bear with me. :) Then I tried loading different images and even went back to the siemens bootloader to erase flash first, but I can't get any rootfs.jffs2 image to load-not even a small bootstrap: after the upload it starts erasing and fails at 01000000 giving an erase error. the partition command spits out this: boot> partition npartitions=3D00000003 bootldr base: 00000000 size: 00040000 end: 00040000 flags: 00000002 root base: 00040000 size: 017C0000 end: 01800000 flags: 00000018 home base: 01800000 size: 00800000 end: 02000000 << ? flags: 00000000 I don't think that'll fit at my 16MB flash. My guess is it's the SL4 table? I think I got my bootloader at the old forum, here from the 0.9.0rc1 'release': http://opensimpad.org/opensimpad-forum/viewtopic.php?p=3D3613&si= d=3D7097574a207e7ea99707f1a503a52f7a#3613 My best guess now is that the partition table is hardcoded in the bootloader image and it can't be changed from the bootprompt? (deleting /home etc. has no effect). So I'm stuck at the boot prompt and my simpad is acting like a zombie with one green led right now. I'd like to get it alive, anyone care to give me a few pointers? regards, Berend |

Hi all, I was hoping to eventually have some to time to get back to the Simpad Linux community, but as it looks it won't happen in the near future. So I've decided to sell my Simpad before it disappears under the dust it's gathering at the time (just a joke - it's been in a case). Before I hit ebay I thought it would be better to keep this device within the family (Simpad Linux community). So if anyone is interested in buying it from me, then here's your chance to give me a price offer. If noone here is interested, then I'll try to sell it on ebay. I have the following: - SIMpad SL4 (modified with a JTAG Interface) - Tatonka Explorer Case with extra pouch for PCMCIA cards etc. ( http://www.globetrotter.de/jpg_prod_xl/j/js3403401.jpg ) - Serial external Keyboard - Netlink (bei D-Link) WLAN PCMCIA Card - Psion Gold Card (PCMCIA Modem) - 10Mbit Network PCMCIA (no-Name - worked with Siemens NE2K bootloader) Also, if someone is interested in taking over the opensimpad.org domain I could have it transfered. It would be good if someone working in the project could take care of the webpage. Just drop me a mail if your interested. Regards, Chris Martin |
