Hi all, There will be no meeting tonight. I'm way busy and have not had time to think about Sidestream. After I get a chance I'll email my thoughts on its development and would like feedback. I wish you all an easy finals week and a fun and relaxing summer. Cheers, Scott |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, Meeting tomorrow, 5:45 pm in the Suzallo Cafe then moving to a place to get food. Primarily, I'd like to decide on a firm date for the focus group or push it back until next fall. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, First off I'd like to let everyone know that we've added two more people to our team. Our newly formed UI team consists of Shane and Martin. They both expressed interest in the project and have something to contribute. I'm thoroughly excited to hear their input. Additionally, Brendan has begun making commits changing code. It is exciting for me to see the scope of those actively working on the project grow. If anyone does not have a current copy of the code running please update and log on occasionally so that we can have a larger usage base to draw upon. If you find bugs (and you will because there are tons) please report them to the SourceForge bug tracker here, http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=183527&atid=905602 . Also, we're having a meeting tomorrow at the usual time, 5:45 pm, at Suzallo Cafe. Let me know if you cannot make it. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, When works for having the focus group? I think we should do it between May 7-15. Also, what features do we want to have? Currently, I'm focussing on flushing out the user<->work correlation in addition to groups and aliases. How is everyone coming on their goals for the week? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I just wanted to let you all know that I talked with Tara from the Film Club and she offered to host a focus group for Sidestream. They'll get a room in the HUB and provide food for everyone who comes. First, we need to come up with a feature list of what we'd like to demonstrate at the focus group. Remember that the audience is film creators. Second, we need to come up with a target date to have those features finished and a date to have the focus group. I'm really excited to see this happen. This is just a lot to sift through, guys. Which is really impressive, but complex. I think what would be most helpful is a big header comment at the top of each file - this file is doing this this and this, connected to this. If you want to comment more, please do, but so long as we have a solid understanding of what each file is doing I'm confident we can sift through the code... and maybe give some little additions for those of us not familiar with the libraries you're using. Otherwise... looks amazing, guys :) Justien Scott Shawcroft wrote: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Hi all, > > I hope your all of your spring breaks have been awesome. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I hope your all of your spring breaks have been awesome. Mine has been full of programming. :-D Commedia has made huge strides since finals. I think it has a decent look to it. I'd like us to start meetings again the first week of school. When works for everyone? Also, despite the huge strides we've made there is a lot left to do. I made a laundry list (is that right?) of things that need to be done. Its available at http://mdn.wikidot.com/todo . Let me know if you plan to contribute in one of these areas. I would like to increase the number of committers. If you are uncertain to dive into code feel free to wait until the meeting and we'll give you the full run down. Lastly, I'd like to decide on a name at the meeting. Sidestream got good feedback from everyone so I'd like to have one last discussion about it. Hey, hey, For those hating libtorrent and/or tagpy, the latest Subversion code (through the wonders of try/except) no longer has these modules as strict requirements. As long the the server component is running, which at the moment runs on my local machine, it supports searching and publishing works to the system. Sure, it's a bit crippled since you can't download or seed any works without libtorrent, but if you want to jump into development, this removes that huge barrier. With these changes, I had in up and running on Windows in no time (no compiling required!). Hopefully MacOSX is a similar story ;-) Cheers, Jason |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, Jason and I have been hard at work on Commedia. We'd like you all to be more involved. We have searching, downloading and publishing working!!! Thats a lot of ings. You can see screenies of the progress at mdn.wikidot.com/milestones . What we need: -Testers. The first step is to get Commedia and its dependencies. -Home tab. Should handle buddy list and messages over jabber. -Designers. Our UI is not the prettiest. Help us make it pretty. -Polishing. We've laid some groundwork but it still needs niceties. -A name! What should we call it? Commedia? -Impressions. Let us know what you think. Since this implies myself and possibly Jason huddled down in our dorm room we'd like to announce that we will spend time coding out of our room on Saturday. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all! You all probably have busy weeks just like me but I'd still like to meet in the Suzallo Cafe at 5:45 Wednesday. I'd like to solidify the network goals (ie go over what I wrote) and settle any outstanding coding issues. Note: If any one is regularly busy during the meeting time let me know and I'll move it. In addition to the regular meeting I'd like to ask everyone if they are around this weekend for a possible hackfest. I'd like to spend 3-5 hours sometime laying the groundwork and establishing coding standards. I'll provide some sort of food too to keep us going.
