This menu contains configurations for SpeedDreams?, these are items which can tailor the game to your computer system and are likely to be configure once and leave set. The default settings should give a reasonable performance on most systems.
Contains options for how SpeedDreams? is displayed on the computer. Changes the resolution of the screen, colour depth (16 or 32bit), whether fullscreen or windowed. It also allows control of how the video modes are selected, 'best' can be disabled if it causes problems on a specific computer/graphics card.
Contains options for how SpeedDreams? uses the available graphics features of the computer/graphics card.
The Skydome feature renders a realistic sky above the race track scene, setting a distance of '0' will disable the sky dome (which can improve frame rates on a slower system).
For a lower speed system frame rates can be improved by reducing the visibility (how far in the distance the scene is rendered), and disabling (setting to 0) smoke and skid marks.
Contains options for how SpeedDreams? uses the OpenGL features of your graphics card, specifically Texture Compression, Multi-texturing and Antialiasing. Not all of these may be available.
Texture compression can improve frame rates on slower systems, however setting a too small texture size will make the graphics appear blocky/low resolution.
Contains options for how SpeedDreams? uses the sound features of your system. The sound can be switched between the Plib and OpenAL backend, or disabled completely. The master sound level can be altered.
The default engine is Sim2.1, which is a slightly improved version of Sim2.0 and is pseudo 3-D. Sim3.0 is considered experimental, but is usable is a user so wishes.
MultiThreading? and CPU Affinity control how the physics modelling is spread across the available CPUs of a system, these can improve frame rates for races with a large number of participants.
Contains options for the Skill level of the AI opponents. This can make the robots slower (or faster) to match the skill level of the human racers.
