Mirrors
One of the major services that SourceForge.net offers is the ability for users to download the Open Source software which has been released by the project through our File Release System (FRS). To serve these files to the user, SourceForge.net maintains a geographically-distributed network of mirror servers, which receive copies of the files and dispense them to users. Since mirror servers are located throughout the world, users can pick a server which is physically close to them and receive great transfer speeds.
Selecting a mirror
You may select the mirror you want to use during the download process. If you know you always want to use a particular mirror (if it has the files you want), you may set the default mirror for your account using the "Change default mirror" link on the Account Maintenance page.
There are times where network performance between two physically-close locations is poor. If you encounter slow downloads from a mirror, simply use the "Select a different mirror?" link to pick an alternate mirror.
If you encounter trouble downloading, please ensure you have turned off any ad blockers and download managers that may be interfering with the download process.
Mirror Providers
Are you a network provider or educational institution interested in joining our mirror network? Instructions for joining the SourceForge.net mirror network.
