In Open Discussion, some people are discussing the F12 key crashing N++. F12 starts the Post-It view mode. Could someone explain to me what Post-It mode is? I know what a Post-It note is but I can't relate the 3M product with the view.

BTW, I tried searching the forums for it. Didn't find anything until I used "postit" instead of "post-it" and then there was no explanation.

      Hi all,

      1. Please keep in mind that you can always hit ctrl-tab to see the N++ document switcher, without having to get out of Post-It mode.

      2. It would indeed be nice if we could switch to another app when we press alt-tab. (On my machine the focus always remains on N++ even though I can see the other apps in the background.)

      3. I find this mode particularly useful when I'm trying to cram as many lines as possible in one screenful. Please keep in mind that the shortcut keys do work in this mode: ctrl-alt-s will do a "save as" etc.

      Best regards to all.

      :)
Well, besides the colour is different from 3M's one, this feature try to do the same thing. In my case,  I need usually several url, always on top, in order to do copy-paste operation from the this small note to a browser.

Sure you can note anything you want to serve it just as as post-it.

Thanks Don. I can see the functionality now. The window is fixed in its location and always stays on top.

      Is it right that:
      (a) that the window should not be movable?
      (b) that you can no longer access the other documents you had opened in that version of N++? (Not until you press F12 again.)

Yeah, this is a very old thread, but filobus brought me back to it.

I think those two things mentioned by gr3gw should be fixed.

i.e. the window should move and that you should have a hotkey to access other docs.

the first time i used it i didn't know how to return to "normal" mode!!
it should be good if in post-it mode there would be some hints to how to do that (like when you change some media players from normal to full screen mode)

In media players, you press a button on your keyboard and then you press it again to reverse it back to normal...

Very simple concept. Pressing the button again restores it back to normal.
