Oh heck, I couldn't help myself and did a new installation anyway. I first used the source code of 9.0.2 version I downloaded last Friday and made the change in the 3d_view_panel.cpp myself and build and installed 9.0.2. That worked but then I decided to build and install the latest source code because then I also get some other changes. The zoom in and out function works like a charm. Will eventually install the official 9.1.0 when it comes out. Thanks, Yuroon

Hi. I misinterpreted "has been addressed" as something that was final in my impatience :-) When I then saw 9.0.2 updated, I assumed wrongly that the change was incorporated I could build as you suggested. I did that with 8.5.0 but had some problems with wxWidgets (wxGTK) that needed to be updated (so 9.0.2 is the first version I now installed after 8.5.0). Building now SAGA from source is something that should now be straightforward but I think I will wait until 9.1.0 comes out. Thanks and best,...

Hi Olaf, Will this change be implemented in a next version of SAGA or is it already updated in the currently available 9.0.2? I see the last update of SAGA 9.0.2 was done 7 hours ago, which coincides with your response to my post. Many thanks for picking this up on a short notice. It was driving me a bit cookoo. I noticed it before but then SAGA went a bit on the back burner for me when I made the quantum leap (for me) from Windoze to completely going to Linux (with windows in a VM) Best, Yuroon

Dear SAGA users and developers, Is there a way in SAGA on Linux to change the settings of the mouse, specifically the settings of the mouse wheel? In normal view, the zoom in and out behaviour of the mouse wheel is opposite of that in 3D view (or vice versa :-) ). I searched through the forum but can't find any similar questions. Thanks, Yuroon

Hi Volker, I updated the wxWidgets as suggested. I followed the procedure here: https://docs.wxwidgets.org/3.2.1/plat_gtk_install.html Then I compiled and installed SAGA following the directions here: https://sourceforge.net/p/saga-gis/wiki/Compiling%20SAGA%20on%20Linux/ wxWigdets installation via apt-get I omitted because I already had it updated. Not that it would any harm probably. The other dependencies were already present or were installed via apt-get. First time I compiled, my whole system...

Hi. Thanks for pointing that out. Updating wxWidgets following the procedure here worked for me: https://docs.wxwidgets.org/3.2.1/plat_gtk_install.html Then I followed the procedure here to compile SAGA: https://sourceforge.net/p/saga-gis/wiki/Compiling%20SAGA%20on%20Linux/ But no need to update wxWidgets since it was already updated above. Adding the wxWidgets directory to the environmental viriable LD_LIBRARY_PATH could be useful, I found out later. Jeroen

Thanks Volker. I could try to build an AppImage but for that I first need to get it installed I guess :-) Best, Jeroen

Hi Volker, Sorry for the late reply. Stuff came up and I left this for a while. I tried the suggestion but it didn't work for me. I recently installed a new Kubuntu distro, so that is a clean one, but I get the same error message. I will try to do what Lu Liu did but I have a suggestion. Perhaps a SAGA AppImage could be made and offered? Is that something that could be feasible? Thanks and best, Jeroen

Hello, I am trying to install a 8.2.2 deb on kubuntu 22.04 (jammy). I downloaded the .deb and use dpkg to install it. But I get error messages regarding dependencies. There are unmet dependencies which, however, I think are fulfilled, meaning that the packages are present. Here is the command: sudo dpkg -i saga_8.2.2+dfsg-1_amd64.deb Here are the error messages regarding the dependencies pkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of saga: saga depends on libgdal31 (>= 2.1.0); however: Package...

Hi, In my case, I wanted to import the color style used in the Corine Land Cover maps produced by the Copernicus programme of the EU. I tried via the load function in Colors in the properties window. I manually copied the values of the .qml (converting them from hex to rgb) into a .pal file (text edited) and loaded but then you still don't get them "on the right spot". I did not realize it can imported in a shapefile :-) Thanks, I will experiment with this. Best, Jeroen

Hi Volkert, Thank you very much for answering my question (which I did not describe very well, I admit). You gave me the right way of making the STL file, which I was looking for. Do you btw. know this site: https://touchterrain.geol.iastate.edu ? Here you can easily create a 3D printable terrain model, even uploading a DEM there. In my case, I uploaded a gridded DEM clipped by a shapefile and the site produced the STL for me. There are some limitations but if the DEM is not too big then it works...

Dear all, Is there a way to convert a color style from QGIS in the .qml format to a color palette in SAGA (.pal file format). Thank you, Yuroon

Dear all, I have a few questions regarding the printing of a 3D map. I am pretty new to 3D printing so forgive me my ignorance. For being able to print an 3D map to make a 3D model or cast, is it sufficient to display it and save the 3D map? Or is something else required as well? What kind of exaggeration factor should I use? Is 1 the most "truthful" representation or could also other exaggeration be applicable? Also, what resolution is recommendable? Does that depend on the printer as well? Thank...

Hi Volker, Just a few remarks. I think these tutorials are useful but you are better at judging the content than I am. The tutorials are quite recent and they seemed to be developed as part of courses at that University. I think it is interesting to see, though, that SAGA and other FOSS apparently are part of the curricula there. Best regards, Jeroen

Hello, I found some online tutorials that might be of use to put on the saga website. They can be found at the Carleton University website. https://dges.carleton.ca/CUOSGwiki/index.php/Main_Page#SAGA Best, Yuroon
