Updated the Guide (1st post), mostly minor cleanups. Also this item under WMC section: (!!!) Goto Settings > General > Automatic Download Options > UNcheck Automatically download WMC data. If you don't do this, your imported Zap2It data maybe wiped clean (!!!) You may also need to do this again, if you rescan for channels.
WMC forever!! This is how I set up my Windows 8.1 WMC with fully automated EPG for OTA in USA (San Francisco Bay Area) as of Apr 15, 2020. This procedure should be very similar, if not the same, for cable/satelite receivers as well. It's been working perfectly including one-time and series recordings for over 2 weeks! Best of all, no annual fees, completely FREE! My locale PC: Windows 8.1 with WMC with all updates, with offical(stable) display driver installed, and with TV tuner drivers installed....

Not that I have seen any. It's still working perfectly for me. Did you get it resolved? If so, what was the issue?

Thanks for the update 👍 What sort of change are you refering to? It's a Perl script, should be easy to edit if zap2it changes something right? Could also switch to tvguide. I found older versions of zap2xml on github, can someone put the "latest" version up there somewhere? https://github.com/shuaiscott/zap2xml/network/members

Thanks for the info! Got me scared for a second...lol In my search for alternatives, I found zap2epg, for Kodi, sounds similar and should be actively maintained. Has anyone tried it? P.S. For people in the USA, there's a massive OTA broadcast frequency band resignment happening this week, to be completed by Sat, May 2, 2020. It just happened today in San Francisco Bay Area. All I needed to do was to scan for more channels in WMC (delete all channels from the list first).

Yes, you can remove downloading channel logos after the first download, but then you'll miss new logs on new channels etc. Depending on how many channels you have, it may be a quickie to download them. In fact, I don't like most of their logos anyways, and I made a bunch of them myself, MUCH better. Anyone also in the San Francisco Bay Area wants my logo set, let me know. About -N 2, it's not recommended to clean them out completely before each download, it takes much longer to re-download everything,...

Just wanna chime in on images for shows (not channel logos). I downloaded them once, took a very long time first time, still much longer on subsequent downloads than without image downloads. The images are mostly, if not all, "after market," not original, not that appealing IMO, so I disabled image downloading all together now.
Hi, the N switch deletes what is the cache for N days from today and download them newly. I just want to make sure I get the most up-to-date guide data in case it was changed from the cache and got missed from updating somehow.
Reporting my WMC PC OS is freshly rebuilt, running smoother than ever. Will be responding to any questions, and continue documenting the guide in the first post this weekend!
Been super busy, just got a chance to work on reviving my WMC... I have also updated all my two postings above on zap2xml switches.

Sorry for the delay in response, long story short, I wrote up my long guide above from actually doing it on that machine, so the procedure is accurate. Then I went to restore the system from the backup, and hell broke loose, the image is corrupted, even the image was/is still validated ok (thanks EaseUS, but no thanks, switching to a different backup, any suggestions?). I'm trying to retrieve the files in the image, avoid a complete re-install of OS and everything else. Still fighting with it, appreciate...

Ok, I'll do it! I'm pretty new here, where shall I post it? Since I have a fully working setup, I don't think this thread/topic would be the best place. If I create a new topic, do you suggest Open Discussion or Help forum?
Hey, just want to pop in and say my system is fully working now (fully automatd EPG, WMC forever!) after 2+ weeks of no problems! All recordings work as intended, some series are split into 2, double checked on Zap2It, it's their guide data issue, not zap2xml nor EPG Collector. Here's a summary of my set up: USA - California - San Francisco Bay Area Windows 8.1 WMC zap2xml - Zap2It EPG Collector My Channel Logos (non-EPG related) Would it be useful for people if I typed up detailed step-by-step instructions...

I see. I'm going to turn off that option for now, unchecking "Set empty previously shown tags to default date." This is because when it's set to 1970-01-01, a bunch of newly recorded programs are now listed in WMC at the end of other recordings. WMC by default sorts recorded programs chronologically in reverse. CORRECTION 3 hours later, I realized I had WMC sorted by Original air date (don't know how it got there, never use that sort) , that explains why some new recordings are listed at the end,...

FP23 definitely makes recording scheduling more functional. Yet setting original air date to 1970-01-01 might not be a proper fix for the scheduling issues. There has to be a way to fix it properly right? MS+Zap2It was able to do it.
FP23 definitely makes recording scheduling more functional. Yet it looks likes we still have a problem here. Is it still possible, or not, to create correct single and series recording schdules (meaning just like how it used to work with MS+Zap2It or MS+Rovi)?

Hi, I tested out FP23, much progress from a few months ago for US ATSC. Kudos. I noticed a side effect of setting a default shown date of 1970-01-01. Now some recorded wtv files have that date displayed in Windows Explorer, versus previously such recordings have a blank date in the Date column. So Windows must have used a different way to figure out not to duplicate record the same show again within 7 days, especially when sufficient information is available in Zap2It xmltv file to determine if two...
