Is there another issue open for this then? I couldn't find it. Just experienced this issue myself after updating to 1.4.30.
Q1. Okay, can I just replace the plist files in the latest build with these new ones? Or do I need to recompile? Q2. I'm not sure what did it but it seems to have stopped the verifying nonsense now. Found some more general discussions on this problem (here and here), with various suggestions that it might be related to Filevault (encryption), Gatekeeper (OS protection from non-MAS apps), or OS 'quarantine' on downloaded files (xattr called 'com.apple.quarantine'). I suspect it was because I had installed...
I just checked the file info and saw that djvu files are set to open with "DjVu.mdimporter (1.3)". And I can't "Change All" to open with DjView, they just change back when I check again.
Still having the problem. Recently I noticed when I opened a djvu file that it had to 'verify' the file first. Actually, it seems to do this for every file, every time. What's up with that?
I tried the command to completely disable thumbnail generation for djvu files, defaults write org.djvu.qlgenerator thumbnail -bool false but it's still making them and taking forever to load. Also tried reinstalling the old version 4.5 and it still was slow. I made sure to reboot and everything. I have no idea what my problem is at this point. Would believe it was a deeper issue with the OS except that it only happens with djvu files. Really frustrating, let me know if you have any more ideas..
This didn't help me, after using your command and rebooting, and browsing to a few djvu directories to allow caching, it still takes around 7 seconds to view a folder with ~10 djvu files.
