I see, so to replicate would you just do something like this 7z a -sfx PE_file.exe folder_to_archive or is it more of a custom solution than that?

I have an old install package for some software I want to modify for a project and I'm having trouble understanding how it might've been packed up in the first place. It is an EXE file but when extracted has all kinds of folders and files in it, including another .7z archive. I don't really understand the information the 'l' command is showing me: why there is a PE and then info about the .rsrc section that says the type is 7z.
