OK, I have made some progress, and I think that I have found some possible work-around to make a javax.swing.JInternalFrame modal. One way is described in this article. It consists in emulating modality by placing the content pane of the JInternalFrame on a glass pane when the JInternalFrame is constructed. Hello, Just for your information, if you configure jPicEdt to use Gimp-like windowing, then you won't have the problem because the dialogs will use PEDiagog class instead of PEInternalDiagog. To do that, open the preferences pannel, General Tab, and select Gimp-like for the 1st item (Multiple Document Interface). Do the selection with the keyboard, as the mouse is not working. Then exit jPicEdt for the configuration to take effect. You can also edit the preference file ~/.jpicedt/preferences and...

People of fctt (French speaking TeX newsgroup) with older graphicx version don't have the problem. These version are working for them : graphicx [2014/10/28 v1.0g Enhanced LaTeX Graphics (DPC,SPQR)] and: Package: graphicx 1999/02/16 v1.0f Enhanced LaTeX Graphics (DPC,SPQR) Package: graphics 2009/02/05 v1.0o Standard LaTeX Graphics (DPC,SPQR) I will try to get an older graphicx on TUG FTP and see what happens. Hello Christian, I am not sure whether you want to be kept informed of the outcome, or just forget about it. After some discussion on fctt forum, I found that replacing bb by viewport makes it work. Attached is an updated note.tex, you can compare the two (using bb or using viewport) by changing the \ifftrue by \iffalse on line 20.

BTW, these commands are documented in the pdfTeX users manual. When you do mthelp pdftex, you do not get it, but the miktex-pdftex manual. In this manual it is written « see also mthelp pdftex-a ». However, the mthelp pdftex-a does not find the pdfTeX users manual, and the package manager does not find it either.

Hello, This is a bug, not a new feature. I think that it has the same root cause as bug 75. Java graphic libraries do not offer standard way to have modal internal frames. jPicEdt had its own implementation that was working with older java toolkit. But with java 8 there were bug fixes on combo boxes in modal dialogs which broke jPicEdt implementation. So, sorry, I can just say be patient. OK, if it sounds likely that these bug fixes have removed the possbility of a dirty crash when some filename has special characters, then it is probably useless if I spend time trying to make some torture test to reproduce the problem with the latest version. By dirty crash I means that sort of crash that makes the « 2017-07-19 12:18:36,599+0200 FATAL pdflatex - MiKTeX encountered an internal error. » sort of error message. OK, I have re-installed the latest MikTeX from scratch — even later than latest installer, as I ran the update manager right after installation. And the good news is that both works.tex and doesnt_work.tex compile fine without any issue. So, hopefully the bug has been corrected during the almost past year (my previous installation was not so outdated, it was of 2016-11-15), or maybe it is still there and has just gone silent because the memory is handled slightly in a different way (not the same...

I must admit that I had completely overlooked that point, once I had got convinced that it was a crash I had spent all my efforts trying to build a minimal example. Second, your statement « I believe you that you get a crash » is a misunderstanding of what I am undergoing. Let us not call a crash that sort of situation which you are describing. Filenames are also Unicode encoded on my machine. MSDos is supposed to make the conversion from the current MSDos code page to the file-sytem encoding. And the filename.sty package is also doing the conversion from latin9 to unicode. So everything should go to unicode when getting to the file-system, and this is why the work.tex file compiles fine. Hello Ulrike, Glad to here from you. Are you on MSWindows 10 ? What is your character code page (open a console and type chcp to know it). I have attached another version where the script is slightly modified to set character code page explicitely to 1252, so that to be consistent with the naming of the directories used in the script.

You get this error message because you have not followed the steps to reproduce the bug supplied in with my initial message when creating this report: Open attached miktex-bug.zip Extract filename.zip and install the package — this is an experimental package not yet on CTAN I attach again filename.zip. One more thing, the attached zip is the zipped directory Vincent under c:\BugMT. So if you unzip it under c:\BugMT, you will find the compilation logs in directory c:/BugMT/Vincent/AppData/Local/Temp/efrench/bug-miktex/abcdefghij/abc_defghij/abcdef/abcdefghij/2016_Abcdef_Géhijk/ as if you had run the test on your machine.

There was also a discussion concerning this in the Texinfo texi2dvi tool. See texi2dvi revision 7199. It is possible to work-around this problem and have pdftex/pdflatex eat a ~ or a number of other funny characters in the filename. The only special character that is impossible to handle is the whitespace. I have the same issue. It was quite a nuisance to me because Emacs M-x find-name-dired command uses find whith the -ls option rather than a more explicit -exec ls - dils {} +. Fortunately, this can be got around in any one of the two following ways: Customizing Emacs by setting -exec ls - dils {} + into the car element of variable find-ls-option.
