Wrong. Use real Notepad in real Windows XP, please. Notepad honors only CRLF as EOL, separate CR or LF are ignored. Here's how it looks like in attached picture:
The last SumatraPDFopt build should be 3.2.11036. 10036 was some pre-3.1 build. Could you fix the folder name, please? BTW. Are you going to create any new build?
It's NOT an archive. It's a tool ready to use, just close all programs and run it. Would you be so kind to RTFM on Dell support webpage before asking any non-related forum, please?
Copyright string: "Copyright 2009 Dell Inc." In the past drivers provided by Dell were packed with RAR so files should start with Rar! signature. Newer drivers are self-extracting zip archives. File 3442A16.EXE is AMI BIOS updater. There is nothing useful to unpack from there, I think.
I have already proposed a simple way to add changes to 7zFM in August 2020 and reposted it with explanations in March 2021: https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/54cd1630eb/?limit=25#cc80/3f20 Do you need any more?
Igor, there is enough space to add more than one option to the "Add to archive" dialog window. I have already proposed such a solution in August 2020 in topic 7-Zip 20.02 alpha The image is still available: https://i.imgur.com/uj5etVFh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uj5etVF.png?cn Changes are in red rectangles, some explanations: 1. Thanks for all tests. Now some comments from my point of view: 1. If you have enough time, I'd like to see results for another test with 7zip: use -mqs switch only. It should be much faster (12-15 minutes expected), but give larger archive (1.5 GB expected). 2. You have found very outdated docs. I don't think you are using 7-zip 4.57, see here: https://documentation.help/7-Zip/start.htm All needed documentation is provided with current 7-zip package. Just run 7zfm, press F1 and read the help. 3....
I should mention -mqs option rather than -mse. With -mqs switch 7zip sorts files by extension which means that duplicate copies use almost no place. It may create much smaller archive when there are duplicates or similar files archived. With switch -mse 7zip additionally creates separate solid blocks for different extensions, which may give slightly larger archives but faster compression.
Some explanations: 1. I should mention -mqs option rather than -mse. With -mqs switch 7zip sorts files by extension which means that duplicate copies use almost no place. It may create even smaller archive than 2-step wim/7z packing. With switch -mse 7zip additionally creates separate solid blocks for different extensions, which may give slightly larger archives and faster compression. 2. The command line you have quoted is somehow illogical. Currently method LZMA2 is preferred rather than LZMA....
Have you tried to use 7zip with switch -mse instead of creating wim file?
You can try with switch -mse which may give even smaller backup file size.

Memory is RAM, Random Access Memory. It's clearly stated in 7-zip help. Available exit codes are also described in 7-zip help. "Not enough memory for operation" error message is expected when you try to create 7z solid archive with very strong compression on some old PC. For example: your PC has 512 MB RAM and 7zFM shows that 709 MB RAM is needed for ultra compression.
You should better think twice before sending fake alerts. 1. There is NO "EsparAnto" language, it's Esperanto. 2. There is NO malware on official 7-zip.org website. There are links to translated MIRRORs on other sites maintained by independent 7-zip fans. Some of those mirrors may be outdated. 3. There is NO adware, malware or popups on Esperanto mirror. 4. There is also link to Portuguese (Brasil) translation maintained by the same person. Do you have any problem with that mirror? And what about...
This dll seems to be compiled using default MSVC settings, which are Vista compatible. To compile software for Windows XP it's not enough to install proper XP toolset (v120_xp for MSVC 2013, v140_xp or newer for MSVC 2015+) as it sets only minimal SUBSYSTEM version, but keeps default unchanged. As the linker uses default settings, the proper /SUBSYSTEM and /VERSION must be set manually. See this discussion: https://stackoverflow.com/a/16088675 Some dll/exe files may work OK after changing /SUBSYSTEM...
What Windows version do you want to install? The only recommended way for Windows NT family (Windows 2000, XP and newer) is to install a new system on a new NTFS partition. There may be some problems if you want to use both 9x and new systems (duaal boot, drive letters etc.)
It's a job for system command line tools. If your ListaT.txt contains list of 7z archives to test, you should just run cmd.exe and its for command as follows: for /F "delims=" %i in (ListaT.txt) do "C:\Program files\7-zip\7z.exe" t "%i" If you want to test specific files in specific archives, you should create other lists and provide other tokens to parse by for command.
I think it's some kind of off-by-one error: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-by-one_error Some programs count references as a total number of copies, some other apps don't count original file and increment references only for additional copies. I suspect that there may be some changes in specification wording: some specification version may suggest the first implementation, another version - the second one.
Some system folders are available only for SYSTEM account by default. In such cases you should first grant proper permissions for a folder to Administator. You can also try another way - add backup job to scheduler and choose SYSTEM account to run that job. Whatever you choose you can do it only when running as Administrator.
7zfm is a very simple file manager. It can only use F3 to view a single file. If you want to view multiple files, you should use better file manager, f.e. Total Commander, Double Commander, FreeCommander XE or Unreal Commander. All of them can use plugins, so all of them can do open 7z archives and run slideshow or playlist when properly configured. Some of them are free, some may have needed features already installed and configured by default… Just download, test and choose on your own.
WARNING: Access is denied. You should run cmd and/or other tools as Administrator. 7-zip by default doesn't compress files open for writing. In this case -ssw switch can be useful.

There are two completely different files on your pictures. They might be prepared and uploaded by different users. It's nothing easy to fix here, you can only send complaints to the uploader of the broken file, if you don't like the torrent version. The uploaders should at least provide file size and a hash (possibly SHA256, MD5 and SHA1 are deprecated).

It's info that ONLY you have problems. 7-zip site currently uses hosting provided by Digital Ocean – it's a big hosting and cloud provider, which hasn't been blocked in China so far. You can open any zip as a folder directly in Windows Explorer, then edit files inside it. What is wrong with this method?
I suppose that other people have had more luck in search. Maybe they used better keywords? Or maybe they accepted suggestions to do it other way - use alternate sfx module, bat2exe, msi, Powershell script, etc.?
Current 7za.exe builds are included in extra package, f.e. here: https://d.7-zip.org/a/7z1900-extra.7z
There is already such a switch: -bb, but it doesn't work with l command. It would be better to reuse it. @Igor Help file should be updated. Switch -stx isn't listed in description of any command.
Klaus, I'm pretty sure you haven't passed the parameter properly. See the red rectangle on the picture: https://1drv.ms/f/s!At_UTSEN6JcgcAxysSd9xOeiuR8 It's a method parameter so when using command line 7z.exe, you must pass it in a switch for method, f.e. -mqs=on APW
You haven't listed content of every folder, so I can only guess: use parameter qs=on to sort files by type when packing.
It's not a bug in zipping app, it's backward compatibility. By default many zipping programs save filenames using local codepage (some DOS/Windows charset). You should change configuration to save filenames in Unicode (UTF-8). UTF-8 is now default for the Internet, so the same is valid for your web pages - save all of them as UTF-8 and forget about many possible troubles.
I suspect you have never tested traversing folders in action, but if you don't like it… IMHO a good policy should recommend separating backups for Windows user data and for Windows system data, so you should follow Igor's suggestion to create 2 (or more if needed) archives.
There are at least two solutions: 1. Map folders with full rights to drive letters. It's better for single locations. 2. Add permission to traverse folder for all (sub-)folders in all listed paths. It's better for mutiple locations (there may be not enough free drive letters for mapping).
Are you sure you are looking at the MODIFICATION date? What filesystem is used to put extracted files?
7-zip always tries to create files with proper timestamps, but some tools may create zip files with missing or improper timestamps. What date do you want to see when unpacking such files - far in the past (1601), far in the future (2559) or current? You can see current timestamp also when extracting (and uploading) files to FTP server…

none of them are working as each attempt just reliplicates the same chrome html files I'm afraid you really downloaded html pages. Many file hosting services don't allow to download files by anonymous users (you must login) or to use download managers/helpers. In the simplest case you should just go to the download page, click the button/link and follow the instructions on the website - solve CAPTCHA etc.
The simplest way is to download and install the newest msi installer for x64 Windows. Currently it's 7z1900-x64.msi. In some cases Windows restart may be required.

7za.exe is a standalone console version of 7-Zip with reduced formats support (packing/unpacking: 7z, xz, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR; unpacking only: Z, lzma, CAB). It's included in extra package, current build is here: https://d.7-zip.org/a/7z1806-extra.7z

Command line tools don't display their own visual interface. They use command line window (a.k.a. console) instead. If you don't know how to invoke console window (run cmd.exe), you'll probably have no use of Windows command line and console tools. 7-zip help obviously is not a place for console manual, sorry to disappoint you.
Oh, and note that you can add encrypted files to an existing archive, but only these new files will be encrypted, the old ones will remain unencrypted, with no password.
You may have misunderstood. 7zFM provides only subset of features which are available in 7z.exe. If anything is unavailable in the command line version (like encrypting files in an existing archive), it for sure won't be available in the 7-zip file manager. Igor Pavlov in many comments have explained that any update using 7-zip software is made by creating a new archive. It means that the same is valid for encrypting – you must set proper options for encryption when creating a new archive. The only...
It looks like there is a content of some splitted archive on your pictures. The data shown by 7-zip are partial and that's why they may be incorrect. For example you can see packed size only for the part of the last file on the list. I suppose that for solid archive the data shown by 7-zip also may be misleading. For example you can see the size of the solid block (about 4096 MiB) rather than the packed size of the file included in this block. So if you want to see meaningful data: + Open the whole...

There are many methods in LHA extensions (with different file extension) rather than in LZH, see Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LHA_(file_format)#Compression_methods DOS and Amiga LZH archives use mostly oldest canonical methods (-lh1- and -lh2-), newest methods (-lh5-, -lh6- and -lh7-) are used for BIOS modules. Code for canonical unlzh is a part of gzip util, but there were vulnerabilities reported in 2006 for gzip 1.3.5 and older. Sample unlzch.c code (version 1.4) counts only 403...
old lzh code can be complicated. I didn't look it. Wrong. It must be very simple and very fast, that's why LZH is still used to compress BIOS modules. IIRC the DOS sfx takes only 2 KB of compiled binary code.
we'd be able to bypass all kinds of adware installer crap. Innounp (Inno Setup Unpacker) is also available and still maintained (current version 0.47) on SourceForge. Your claims about crap are null and void.
Do you use 7zip for Windows or Linux port called p7zip? Can you see that this manual page is for -m switch only?
arj t -s *.arj doesn't update timestamp
Shareware ARJ does NOT use such options. See the original docs: HOW TO USE ARJ: If you type ARJ [return], you will see a simple help screen. If you type ARJ -? [return], you will see more detailed help information. -h is a prefix for shifted switches, also described in docs.
They are probably encrypted archives (or other containers), so you can stop trying.
If the file is new, it may be a part of z compressed archive splitted into 1 MiB parts. In this case you must first combine all the parts into a single archive. If the file is very old, it may be a part of archive created by a very old version of InstallShield installer. In this case the archive is splitted into parts for distribution on floppy disks and may contain only data stream. The metadata (central directory) may be provided in a separate file. There is an util called iComp.exe that can deal...
Note that other programs also use %TEMP% folder when you open files from your container, so it is really better to use some batch file to mount container and redirect %TEMP%. I think that you should look for encrypting software that already has implemented such a feature (redirecting %TEMP% when mounting/dismounting container) or is still maintained and you can ask its developers to add such a feature.
7zFM is a file manager and it works like other orthodox file managers. They ALWAYS show "Copy (F5)" when you select file(s) from the list in panel, also for files selected inside an open archive.
I wonder why you are making so many unneeded actions, when you can copy files over the network or use USB drive. PDF files are internally compressed and archiver in many cases may store such files even when using maximal compression. So you can just pack them with no compression, if they are very small - you won't lose time for compression and the large files will be copied faster than the bunch of small files. 7zip splits large archive into separate parts which don't have their own headers. Only...
It is a problem with Windows 10 reported by users of many programs. This problem was reported here during last year in any topic with "mouse" in subject. Microsoft fixed the bug in Windows 10 build 1803, see for example here: https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/0913b871/#ea8f https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/ccdc2b72/#0545
Any log won't help you, if there are random problems with your keyboard. A dirty keyboard or a keyboard with broken cable may repeat keypresses on its own. There may be also problems with some apps, which may not clear keyboard buffer when you press Escape key to close some (message) windows – in such cases Escape may be passed through to other apps, including 7-zip. So: change the keyboard and stop using Escape - it's not the ANY key you're looking for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Any_key
It seems that your external drive goes to sleep and 7-zip can't continue. I supoose that you should change settings for power management (and screensaver) in your system. You should probably also change settings for the USB/LAN ports used by the drive.
That's not quite true. It's NOT a valid HTML document, it's rather an error message concatenated with 7z file. It means that the website is misconfigured or the website code contains errors. 7-zip in new versions won't open such files by default, you need to use option ”Open inside #” to open any file containing data before archive. It's been already explained 2 days ago, see the following message: https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/75f11cd5/?limit=25#d7a3

Let's run a command like that: 7zip.exe d existing_archive.zip file_missing_in_archive You will see that 7zip sets timestap of the archive to the current time (works like Unix/Linux "touch" command), though it has NOTHING to do. Now imagine that you have thousands of archives, but only some of them contain unneeded files, so you want to send only changed archives. You will probably want to use command like that: for %i in (*.zip) do 7zip.exe d "%i" file_to_delete …but it will update all the archives....
There may be two issues, I think: 1. Windows Explorer uses your %TEMP% folder to operate with zip files so in some cases the total length of %TEMP% path and path to your nested subdirectory may be greater than Windows supports (AFAIR 1024 bytes). 2. Your subdirectory may be shared and mapped with a letter as a network drive. When accessing it via network, you will see only the short path to the mapped share. But when accessing the subfolder directly on your local drive, you will probably see "Path...
If you want to use "track" as a part of filename, you should really use proper track numbers, see wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Disc_Digital_Audio#Tracks At least make your naming pattern more compatible with other software, please.
Plugin works great. Just two things to fix, IMHO: 1. Track 00 is usually a pregap in CD-DA or a data track in mixed mode, so on a pure CD-DA audio track numbers should start with 01, not with 00 (as I can see it in total Commander). 2. There are date/time stamps missing for wav files. If you can't get such info from ISO image, maybe you should use timestamp of iso file - to avoid using current timestamp. And one thing to possible change: use "track" in filenames, fe. quake2.track.11.wav (Total Commander...
