I upgraded my Xquartz 2.7.11, and now I have a Dia icon, but it 'bounces' the entire time that Dia is open.

  • Nap Nap modified a comment on ticket #105

[Mac OS 10.13.2, with Xquartz 2.7.9, Dia-0.97.2-7.dmg] I can't run Dia via its icon. To run it from the terminal, I first need to 'export DISPLAY=:0' before running /Applications/Dia.app/Content/Resources/bin/dia

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on ticket #105

In either case, there is no DIA icon in the Launch Bar while DIA is running. Though there is an X11 icon.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on ticket #105

To run it from the icon in LaunchPad, the bin/dia script needs to be modified to export DISPLAY=:0 before the test in line 27. The reason for the failure seems to be due to the fact that $DISPLAY already contains a value; on my system it is: /private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.ltexsnZtF4/org.macosforge.xquartz:0.

The schema I posted is for v4. I used MySQL workbench and then organised the layout based on what I perceived as FKs. I hear what Stéphane is saying about introducing schema based constraints after the fact. When will v5 be released and will there be an upgrade option which preserves existing data as well as formatting within the various text fields? I really like what you guys have created here. It brings together bibliographic referencing, note taking, ability to sort and catagorise, and many other...

I've drawn up a diagram that represents my 1st iteration of what's going on. The tables in the middle have relationships to the resource table (RHS) via the tables on their right. The areas condoned off in yellow indicate that I'm not quite sure how these relate to the resources table (presumably indirectly). In the top left, the tables cordoned off with the blue line represent user related tables. In the bottom left, the tables have to do with WikiNDX in general and are not tightly related to resources....

Ok, I've answered most of my earlier question. There are no FK constraints defined in the database. Would you like me to set them up? (Would make it a lot easier to understand the DB schema.)

  • Nap Nap modified a comment on discussion Open Discussion

Would you have an ER diagram of the database? Or a diagram that shows how each table relates to the others? I created an "EER Diagram" using MysQL Workbench. But it's not really an "EER", rather a diagram of tables/fields. From this EER Diagram, it appears there are no foreign key constraints between tables. Is this handled in the PHP code, or did I miss something in MysQL Workbench?

I don't see the 'paste without formatting option, just the "Eraser" which removes formatting most of the time. I like the use of html for the abstract, notes, etc., especially for copying in a web page, say wikipedia, but I wondering why this is needed for the title? Another thing, I'm using WikiNDX 4.2.2 as suggested earlier. I'm getting myself organised at the moment with all the resources I've accumulated during my previous studies. Once I've done that, I will be able to do more in v5.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

Stéphane, I'll report problems as I discover them. After adding a new resource and then returning to edit it, if the title of the resource has HTML formatting (spans, fonts, colours etc) the title's html code is displayed incorrectly (some of it outside of the editing text box). This can be fixed up by removing the HTML markup.

Ok Stéphane, I'll check those out. I'm using Preview on my MAC to copy from, and another problem I'm having with TinyMCE is that some letter combinations are not pasted across; 'ff' and 'fi' are two examples. (On my Windows machine, I use Foxit Reader when I view PDFs. I don't use Adobe PDF at all anywhere.)

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

;) So far so good. I have a backup of the entire folder in case I need to fallback. I just thought I'ld give it a go to see what would happen.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

I get funny spacing and formatting problems that need subsequent manual fixing. This generally happens when I paste into the text area, but not always. (I've had this problem with TinyMCE for years, starting with Joomla.) FYI, I downloaded 3.5.12 from their site and extracted it over the existing TinyMCE in WikiNDX's (4.2.2) ./core folder, and it's still working. :) (But so are the formatting problems.) Whilst on the subject, it would be nice to be able to resize the textarea whilst editing. I think...

I'm not quite sure why, but the version of TinyMCE in WikiNDX 4.2.2 / 5.1 does not function very well in recent FireFox browser versions for me. I notice that tinymce is contained in the ./core folder, and I'm wondering how difficult it would be to update it from their github repo or download links? Say to version 3.5.12? Can it be 'dropped in' over the older version or would there be lots of API based changes? Just wondering....

Thanks, I was just exploring. This is both a tool and a project from my perspective. I need it in order to manage my studies and at the same time I am finding things I need/want to make it do. I suppose that's where you were, Mark, when you first started this?

Whilst getting to understand how WikiNDX works, tagged a resource into two of my bibliography categories. Now I want to put it back to only one, but I can't figure out how to do it through the UI. Any tips?

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion v4 Development

I have made it possible to select more than one NOT in user bibliography item. The benefit of this is that you can now zoom in on odd balls that don't have their settings right. Since I'm not accustomed to SVN, I have setup a local GIT repo on my VM that uses the wikindx4.2.2.zip as the base. The code seems to work without any side-effects (I've correctly identified and subsequently editted/saved the resources I needed to fix). Selections are maintained across screens/sessions. I have not gone to...

Thanks, I decided to go down the non-technical path first and it worked nicely. What I did, was export to a BIB file from v5 and imported it into v4. This worked for most things, including a small number of URLs. Since I needed to change the path of the url from 'files/...', I went through each of my references (in both v4 & v5) and performed the update and I needed to set the URL label in v4. I was rather pleased with how this went, and have now imported all my honours thesis references, directly...

I am studying for my PhD in robotics and AI. I'm quite comfortable with PHP and have used Smarty before.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Help

But that's not as simple as I thought it would be. It looks like the resourcetextUrls is encoded in the database somehow, so I can't simply do a string replace. Any suggestions for doing this enmass, rather than editing each and every resource?

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Help

Right, so I should choose another location. :) Thanks.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on ticket #114

I've noticed that this problem exists whenever I wish to edit a resource. The means of accessing it is irrelivant.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Help

I've been testing the v5 beta and have a sizable number of references entered (which I have SQL dump backups of). I'm just wondering if it's possible to revert the v5 database back to v4.2.2, in case I decide to share my data with others in my lab?

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Help

[Using v5 Beta, SVN from 2017/10/25] I haven't worked out yet what's causing this, now that I'm sure I have put stuff in this folder (lol). Is this happening to anyone else? How can it be prevented? Cheers, Nap

Notice: Only variables should be passed by reference

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

Hi Mark, I understand this may be something that doesn't register on the radar compared all the other things you're doing, but I figured I would put my thoughts down here nonetheless. In my use-case, I think it would be really nice if, when creating/editing a resource, the authors were not cleared each time the Resource Type is changed (sometimes I'm not sure if it's a conference paper or preceedings article), if they are already defined. I notice that there are other 'persistent' fields on the RESOURCEFORM,...

In my FF Inspector consol, I can see a bunch of 404 errors for each of the templates, core, and plugins. I think my suspision may be correct.

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Help

Thanks Mark, After reading some other threads and noting their dates, I was shocked to find you had already replied to my template problem. I tried as you suggested but it has not fixed the problem unfortunately. I have WIKINDX running in a subfolder off the main domain. It was working fine earlier, so I'm wondering if it's something like a path variable that hasn't been set?

  • Nap Nap posted a comment on discussion Help

Hi, thank you for an excellent project! I just upgraded from 4.2.2 to v5 successfully, but the template doesn't seem to be rendering anymore. I just have a long list of URLs that compose the menu items and a bland list of my documents at the bottom. I'm sure there is a quick fix to this, but as I'm not familiar with the WIKINDX code, I'm not sure where to look to fix this.
