Thank you very much for this! You have made +three years of data and rules/styles etc. viable again!

As per request a sort of newish map that still exhibits the same behaviour.
Is it possible to anonymise a map? Or at least a more convenient way than to hand edit out the "offending" parts? If not I'll try to create a new map that can replicate the error creation. I do understand the need for a "verification map".
Script + date & calendar use ->EventQueue errors
Created a copy of the map where all this started. Disabled all use of conditional styles and as of now no more error messages. So, though I am not really really sure, it looks like that the errors in one way or another are related to conditional styling.
I have tried "downgrading" the java runtime to 1.80_31 but the issue still persists. I wonder if these 2 lines from the errormessage are significant in some way. But then again maybe not. at org.freeplane.features.styles.ConditionalStyleModel$Item.dependsOnCondition(ConditionalStyleModel.java:85) at org.freeplane.features.styles.ConditionalStyleModel.lambda$dependsOnCondition$1(ConditionalStyleModel.java:319) I use conditional styles a lot to provide visual clues regarding status etc.

I am pleased with the result. I haven't seen this for some time now. So I would consider this fixed. Thank you for your effort.
Thank you ever so much. Your efforts are much appreciated.

I wrote about it there because it surfaced when trying out the speedier dialouges, I have not seen this before. It might actually be related, even if that is very unlikely. Anyway, I will create a proper bug report and update my entry above to reflect that. Don't worry you will get the full kit of maps and everything. I do need to verify this on at least one other computer before filing the bug report.
I have done some additional copy and paste testing. Something is probably not right but copying in Freeplane and pasting into Outlook and also into Word is erratic. Pasting the same into Notepad++ retains at least all the text. Really odd if you ask me.
Hi Dimitry, Dialogue speed is noticeably a lot better, thank you very much. Unfortunately copy/cut & paste seems to have gotten lost in the process. Copying, pasting inside Freeplane works Ok. Though copying in Freeplane and pasting into Outlook, for example, does not work. It looks as if Freeplane has been/is disconnected from the system clipboard. I have to correct myself on that, here just now what happened is that copy and paste from Freeplane into this post, actually pastes something, linefeed...
Current status is: Status: unable-to-reproduce I would say that it is not correct. I can make it happen everytime I connect to the network at work either on site or via VPN. Same thing every time from usable to cold molasses. We are at least three that can see this behaviour, including @ Marcian, I think the issue might be related to my findings here. Disconnecting from a kind of large corporate network, with lots of network resources, cuts the dialogue time to useful by a factor of 5-7 depending...

I have now had the opportunity to try this at more than 10 times and pressing escape a number of times only refocuses to the root node. However, attempting to edit the "node details in dialogue" first and then "edit node core in dialogue" seem to wake things up. Occasionally what looks like an edit window flickers by very briefly and some time later input works as expected again.

I tested this working from home using my work laptop. Home network only: Dialogues are usable inside of 3 seconds. Corporate network via VPN: The unbearably slow 18 to 22 seconds. Here in [bugs:#2789] in this post i documented something interesting. Using the CDE/Motif L&F is way faster than any other: "CDE/Motif is/was: For New from templ. 19 times faster than the slowest one (Darcula) For Save As also 19 times faster than the slowest one (Windows)" @Shane Rosenberg: If you have the time to spare?...

IBM's CUA keys then. Why didn't I think of that? However why on earth is/was functionality as basic as copy and paste dependant on L&F? CUA is no problem I've used them with OS/2 lots of years ago but why remove/disable or whatever the reason the current std CTRL+C, CTRL+V and so on. Anyway great work and a backport to 1.8.m would be greatly appreciated. As a sidenote, hope you have seen the latest speed tests that I did with different L&F. Something fishy is going on.
CDE/Motif L&F -> Copy & paste doesn't work
CDE/Motif L&F -> Copy & paste doesn't work
CDE/Motif being faster comes at a cost or so it seems. Cut & Paste no longer works as expected. Inside a node with text selected paste creates a new node instead of replacing the selected text. Search box is also now impervious to any cut & and paste so every search criterion has to be typed in rather that pasted. This is really weird. One thing gets better and another gets worse...

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner! I have tried all of the bundled look and feels and I think I have stumbled onto something sort of unexpected. Average times: To splash: 2 secs To useable: 14 secs To New fr. templ:17 secs To Save As: 13,00 secs Slowest overall: Metal total = 62 secs Fastest overall: CDE/Motif = 17 secs CDE/Motif: To splash: 2 secs To useable: 13 secs To New fr. templ: 1 sec To Save As: 1 sec CDE/Motif is/was: For New from templ. 19 times faster than the slowest one (Darcula)...
Which version of Win 10 are you on? Home/Pro/Enterprise? What kind of an environment are working in. I noticed something the other week and posted here about it. It looks like the response time of dialogues vary with amount of available resources to "check". That is of course a symptom of something that I believe needs to be fixed or if it is a Java problem sent up stream.

Hi, I have done some additional testing with Sysinternals ProcessMonitor keeping an eye on jawaw.exe "events" and activities. Changing the look and feel to Metal lowers the number of events by appr. 500 or so from appr 8000. What does make a significant difference is running the computer disconnected from the corporate network. Working from home as many of us are connected to just the home network turns out to be acceptably fast! "Save as", "New map from template" are usable inside of three seconds....

I and at least one other user have suffered from really slow "Save as", "New map from template", etc. Trying a bit of google-fu I found one guy at Stack-exchange having experienced something similar. In his case it turned out to be an icon that had to be removed...or something along those lines. Anyway, he had used Sysinternal's Process Monitor to find the culprit. So I decided to do the same. Just in case, I might have misunderstood something, perhaps even a lot but here goes... "Save as" seems...

Running into a low memory situation made me open the Windows taskmanager. From there I opened the resource monitor and eventually wound up with java.exe and wait chains. Freeplane is/was the only java application running at the time. This might be nothing but I am curious as to why when Freeplane is idle there seem to be three threads waiting for Network I/O. See attached image.
I was a late? adopter. Now that I have used it I just want to say a great big THANK you. This ranks as one of the-i my book anyway-most if not the most useful addon for Freeplane. I have to admit I have not tried them all but still. This is a true time saver! Again, thanks a lot for the effort. PS. There's a virtual beverage of you own choosing attached. :)

I will miss the bee! Why change for the sake of change? Perhaps this artistically and graphically skilled user can revamp the current logo incorporating some of the above style in to it?
It seems that I misread/misunderstood your post to some extent. I didn't get that you were on the topic of implementation whereas I myself was on the usage side of the fence. No small wonder then that our opinions differ.
I can't remember ever selecting that option?! I've seen it but... Nevermind I'll have a look and uncheck if it is checked. Thanks for the reply and an even bigger thanks for the general effort and work on Freeplane!
Well, I for one do think that it is over simplifying it a wee bit. Using an Excel analogy, one wouldn't want to use filtering to emulate the presence of separate worksheets in a workbook? Not that very good filtering and creative use of it is anything bad, far from it. Xmind has got a working setup with mapsheets within a mapbook if you like, I would like to see something very much like that.
For starters, as far as I can tell it hasn't introduced any regressions. Which is a good thing. Even if I am not on a Mac I do believe it feels snappier with less lag and whathaveyou. So from me it's a thumbs up.

Hi, It's kind of easy, even if initially a bit Isla-De-Muerta like. Once you know where it is you'll know how to find it! Check that Menu->View->Controls->Tool Panel is ticked. If not do that. To the right you'll have a docked window with 4 tabs on the top. 1st one on the left is "Format". Click "Format" to select it, if not already done. Select the root node and to the right, about 2/5ths down in the "Format" tab of the Tool Panel you'll see a section called "Node shape". To the right of the label...

Well, what he said! I second that.
I am a bit slow on the ball here. But I don't think that linking equals a "mindbook" with mapsheets in it, on tabs. Besides the linking, any distribution would be easier with a "grouped" approach.
