Dim whole bar (+icons) to help prevent OLED burn-in

Because the NumericUpDown type has certain flaws, I'm using a string instead of a double for a particular column. However, I want to limit the characters the user types out on their keyboard in this field to ONLY numbers and a decimal point. How can I achieve this?
