Yeah you're right, vsync is working fine with sdl2 compared to sdl1, forgot to mention that in my previous post. Anyways , these are just my personal experiences with advancemame on linux (x) and windows (xp). On my rpi2 everything works just fine.

Your settings are fine,, they are almost the same as mine. Since the switch from sdl1 to sdl2 this happens., on linux (with x) and windows (xp). See my topic below: https://sourceforge.net/p/advancemame/discussion/313511/thread/ae7eecf5/ I've compiled older versions of advancemame to test it and since the switch to sdl2 this is what you get. Uneven pxels. I used to compile advancemame with sdl1 until last year because my fans would spin up like crazy using sdl2. My advice is to use an older version...

The images above don't seem to work, but here are the links: rpi: https://ibb.co/vqVk0P0 sdl1: https://ibb.co/THBY7HQ sdl2: https://ibb.co/KxThW1Q These screenshots where taken with Avancemame 3.9, all share the same config options. BTW, I've edited the above post to include the image links.

It's been a while but maybe some screenshots will help better explain what I mean. Advancemame on my rpi: https://ibb.co/vqVk0P0 Advancemame compiled with SDL1 on my main computer (Debian Buster): https://ibb.co/THBY7HQ Advancemame compiled without options (defaults to SDL2)): https://ibb.co/KxThW1Q See the difference? Uneven pixels when SDL2 is used. I don't use windows but I've tried your windows build and the same thing happens. Best regards, Salvatore

Hi Andrea, Many thanks for the latest update of AdvanceMAME, this is a great update. I really like to now be able to assign joystick buttons to events in AdvanceMenu. I'm now finally building AdvanceMAME with SDL2 instead of SDL1 and I've noticed that with SDL2 the pixels ar uneven (unlike SDL1 or on my Raspberry Pi). This gives a shimmering effect, very noticeable on scrolling games. ASO: Armored Scrum Object is a very good example of what I mean. Ciao, Salvatore

HI Andrea, Thanks for your quick response. I've compiled the version from git and with SDL2 and the CPU usage is now in the 50's and to my surprice the CPU usage with SDL1 is higher, its in the 70's. An improvement but still high. BTW I've noticed that with SDL2 when the screensaver is running every time a new snapshot is loaded the background sound stops playing for a split second (this is with the default sounds). I'm using ALSA. Haven't tested it yet with SDL1. Ciao, Salvatore

Hi Andrea, I've been using AdvMenu for years but when you switched to SDL2 it became very CPU intensive. 80% or more CPU usage, before it was only 3-5% CPU usage with SDL1. So, I used to compile advmame with ./configure --disable-sdl2 and everything was fine. But since version 3.6 and later even compiled with SDL1 I 've got very high CPU usage in the 80's and above. For now I've reverted back to 3.5 with SDL1 and everything is fine., just 3-5% CPU usage max just showing boxart, screenshots. I'm using...
