Greetings EPG Collector runs every few days 3 times a week and loads the data collected from zap2it. Every now and then (a few weeks) I have to manually run EPG123 to Rebuild WMC Database as the db file grows too large and eventually breaks windows media center. After running Rebuild WMC Database EPG123 prompts me to load up the MXF file. I use ...\AppData\Local\Geekzone\EPG Collector\TVGuide.mxf to restore all the Guide data and it is surprisingly quick. So I was thinking of using EPG123 Client...
Output Tab settings summary: Use broadcaster references Side effect is 90% of all guide programs appear as a non series Use programme title with merge Back to where we started. Sets last occurence date for original air date on daily shows Use programme title without merge Can now record daily shows with proper original air dates but in the case of some repeat episodes in a series get recorded that are not New even with correct coresponding original air dates showing up in the guide. The work around...
Sorry Steve to get back to you so late, had to deal with some family stuff. I just updated the EPG Collector to V040332. I used EPG123's "Rebuild Database" to clear out the guide data. The database was reduced to only 35MB. Then I ran the patched EPGCollector and the database grew to 100MB. Note: Use broadcaster references is selected for Series and Repeats. There are no shows scheduled to record now. If I attempt to select a show in the Guide the only option available to me is to Record it as a...

An empty previously-shown is new vs. repeat is somewhat subjective I suppose. From a technical perspective replacing it with 1/1/1970 definitely marks it as a repeat where as replacing it with the programme start time marks it as new. I guess it's dealers choice. I've run into delayed situations where shows on Syfy that preaired in canada then have there 1st showing in america and WMC won't record the Series as New because of that side effect. Btw I had changed 'Use broadcaster references' on one...
Steve thanks for the detailed explanation. I can see why some talk shows use EP and most daily news use SH. This make me wonder about how manual scheduling appears inside WMC. For said slotted time you can have just one entry that tick boxes any selective days of the week to be recorded in combo. Is the side effect of EPGC getting a New tag is to set the original air date to be of that programme's start time? And optionaly doing the same thing for the empty previously-shown if the checkbox is ticked...
Thanks I'll change the setting to see what happens. Episode-num tag - What's the difference between dd_progid's starting with 'SH' vs 'EP' ? I would be willing to experiment. My family has 2 WMC machines. If memory serves there's also an odd WMC Guide scenario where listings of the same title appear with no episode data (no sub-title or any meaningful description) spanning over a few channels. As sparse as it is, it gets recorded as part of the series. A work around in WMC was to change the Series...
Series and repeats = Use programme title with merge Note see attached PNG for screenshot of all output settings. Cheers!
