Well after checking the log - I had uncommected the wrong line - Doh I did this line - # /dev/ttyACM0 # general: USB modem 0 What i needed to do was this- # set ttyport = /dev/ttyACM1 but change the port to 0 Thank you for the help :-)

Disabled the modem manager and now NCID runs on startup, Thank you for the tip Ed Now onto the upgade 1.7 to 1.10.1 and geting the alias sorted out.

Thank you for the help, I tried to set it to start on boot but it wouldnt work, Using terminal window using ncidd -Dv3 This showed that it cant find the modem unless you wait for about a minute after start up as it was running -Dv3 I left it running in teh window and thats when I noticed it got killed at the end off the month. Thanks for the info i'll do some digging and check whats happening I will also try and get it setup as daemon and get that working
