Hi all! Does NAPS2 support Epson EcoTank ET-2870 (also Mopria supported scanner) MFP? Any experiences for using it WIA or TWAIN? Asking because I have one to be ordered. Appreciated, Timo
Hi @ben-cyanfish, Any progress news? :) Hope all is fine with you. //timo
Hi @ben-cyanfish - sure sometimes life comes to define priorities and that's totally fine. Great to hear you are fine and that NAPS2 is gonna get even more great in the future :) Any guestimate for timeline (as 1st beta or such), and yeah, when ready :) All the best!
It's been awhile since last updates to NAPS2, hope all is well :=) Can you share some light on the NAPS2 future (from development point of view), perhaps :) @ben-cyanfish or @pdeleeuw Stay safe.
For me this ain't USB drive, but Windows KeePass directory... And I have KeePass.config.xml in .. \Appdata\Roaming\KeePass -directory. File has been written today last time > So I'll just place that that Dominik's file to the KP program folder. Edit: That did the trick - no more error upon exit and config file updated in the appdata location.
The question remains: I do have existing KeePass.config.xml file in my KeePass directory. The file (updated last in 2019) contains my configuration and if I overwrite that with the file provided, my conf. changes are gone... How to prevent that happening and more, WHY all of the sudden KeePass can't write / access to that file as there are no changes in my system (except Windows updates)?
Configuration Error: Failed to save to the specific file
Any news @ben-cyanfish on NAPS2 future development? I hope all is well and stay safe <3 //Timo
Hi @ben-cyanfish, hopefully your life stuff is good and you and your family are safe. Looking forward to next NAPS2 releases :) //T
That would be great, however, I think it would be quite an effort...
Hi Ben! That's more than great news :) Hope all is fine in life. Keep up the great work! BR, Timo
There hasn't been much development progress nor feedback in the forums lately. And for sure, "life" sometimes happens and that's fine too. I hope @ben-cyanfish everything is fine and we'll evantually continue getting great new releases of NAPS2 in the future. All the best :) //timo
By default, it would speed things for scanned page processing (Edit, Rotate...) IF the scanned page(s) could be auto-selected after scan. Now the page needs to be manually selected after each scan. Thx.
Thumbs up for the propsal. Hope it gets implemented.
I have to say that NAPS2 is one of my frequently used apps and love to see it's evolve. I hope you Ben have some time to go through the feature requests too (and decide which ones to start developing). But for sure, life comes in a way sometimes.
Any possibility to have this in coming release(s)?
FR: Auto-select scanned page
Appreciated, missed that, my bad! And they(added by user) even show in the UI! This ticket can be closed, for sure! PS. Another minor idea for the web-page & documentation part: add a link to this appsettings guide, it's burried pretty deep as one would not realize where to look that... ;)
Appreciated, missed that, my bad! Would it be possible also to display the configured shortcuts in the actual menu items as future enhancement? This ticket can be closed, for sure! PS. On beta3: Minor finding / comments: - For future, it might be good to prompt on saving scanned pages prior updating (despite it recovered my scan after successfull update :) < thumbs-up - About OCR functionality: seems to be a bit faster - Dropped in a PDF-file and NAPS2 prompted: "An additional component is needed..." < could give a bit more details of WHAT component, it was a bit confusing. After downloading and installing, PDF-file rendered OK in NAPS). Same for first time cropping an imported...
Another minor finding: When scanning and the "Acquiring Data" dialog is show, it should (?) the % value "Percent complete"? Perhaps in the middle of the progress bar as textual value? //timo
After my initial testing of the 6.0 beta2, following findings: 1) The "Check for updates" in the About dialog would be more logical of being a clickable button (instead of checkbox with autocheck; IMO; If autocheck-on, the upon app launch?) 2) Drag & drop re-ordering scanned pages is not possible (was in 5.8.2) 3) Crop selection has a bug for not remembering the sliders (see image (2)); yes the selection frame itself (1) is remembered 4) It seems that the updater did not overwrite my appsettings.xml...

Ben, I have time for testing starting from Sun eve, shall you make "beta2" by that time or should I just take the first beta? //timo
Thx! For the appsettings.xml, perhaps installer could take care of a back-up for the existing version (just for the sake of better ux :) ). Minor thing and ppl who modify that manually, will mostly make backups anyhow.
Hi Ben, Excellent change-log for the upcoming release! A few questions prior my evaluation: 1) Can I update over my previous NAPS2 installation (5.8.2)? 2) If yes (1), does the installation over-write my appsettings.xml file? 3) Does the installer 'include' 64-bit version and install that depending on my W10 system (64-bit)? Thx!
Hugely appreciated, that did THE trick! Could even be FAQ topic for ppl saving lenghty multi-page scans? Thx Ben, the best gets even better (the upcoming release) :) //timo
Seems I have been able to isolate the problem: When saving the whole scanned output (xx pages) as single PDF, the problem appears When saving each scanned page separetely, their texts are properly made searchable Ben, could you look into this > Move this ticket into the Bugs side perhaps...? //timo

Hi all, Just recently scanned a pretty lenghy book with NAPS2 latest version (300dpi; Color > Save to PDF; default). The PDF was generated without errors producing ~60 Mb PDF-file with ~75 pages. The problem is that quite a few (say ~20) of those output pdf pages seemed to save "as image" (= non-searchable; which is the problem) within the pdf-file. The physical page size is pretty small and so is the printed font (that might be part of the problem). In OCR settings the checkbox for "Make text searchable..."...
Appreciated, thx!

Please enlighten me: What is Tesseract 4? Does it come build in with next NAPS2 and most importantly, How does it make end-use better/faster/more accurate? Sorry if this was trivial. Appreciated :) //Timo
Sample file?
One very "blondish" thing to try: When launching NAPS2, select "Run as Admin". Of course it's not the real solution, but might be worth trying.
Any further investigation on this pre-defined "crop frames" Ben? :)
Despite this "multicrop" ability, it does not work quite as expected (read: desired) as page positions may vary. An alternative, but could be better (as per this reqest) :)

The autocopping is (I guess ;) ) very challenging on books (which I scan the most). Therefore I had proposed this 'Crop Frames' thing - let's see if Ben picks it up for implementation. It would be rather non-technical compared to implementing algorithms/autocrop stuff. But let's see!
Excellent. The autocropping feature is extremely challenging sometimes when scanning books (the "centerfold"). Therefore I proposed the pre-definable cropping frames to speed up the UX, could that @Ben be an option?
That would great. Specially when scanning books (auto-cropping a single A4 paper is pretty easy...) this could be challenging and resulting different page sizes (after auto-crop). I had an idea about an ability to place pre-defined 'crop frames' - check my post: https://sourceforge.net/p/naps2/discussion/general/thread/0228aa80/ Yet, would love to see auto-cropping implemented :)
When saving the scans (to PDF), you can just select the required pages to be saved. But if you are talking about the separating existing PDF-files, then I would propose other tools for that (and other PDF-processing in general too). Hope you find the right solution.
One of my favorite PDF-tools (Open Source fw): http://angusj.com/pdftkb/ Can do that (and also merge, stamp, rotate...) HTH, Timo
Hi. Anyone else would like to have such feature implemented to speed-up multi-page scans page cropping? Was the description above clear or should I make a better, quick mock-up? :) //timo
EDIT: Fixed a few typos and made some corrections. Created this as Sourceforge ticket also, but wanted to open it up for wider discussion. See ticked link below. Usecase: When scanning multiple pages e.g. of a book or a magazine pages, in most cases the Cropping is usually needed to be done by similar in size. Currently, user has to adjust the size manually for each scanned page separately. If you have say 50+ pages to scan, this (altering the croping size) can be pretty time consuming process. FR: Ability to save and use pre-defined "Crop Frames"
Totally overlooked :( Appreciated, thx!
Hi. I would like to be able to define where by default my saved documents (PDF's, images) are saved to. Currently I need to browse to the desired location each and every time. Have somekind "General" category for NAPS2 Settings. Thx!
Hi. First of all, thank you for the great utility - using that to wake-up my NAS...
