where can I find these dedicated M1 binaries you speak of?
Is it possible to use Adminer to connect to a MySQL DB on a remote server, and then duplicate the contents to a local DB?
Fixed in the latest version. Fields in Kid3 pretty much match iTunes now.
It's perfect. I don't have a lot of money right now, but I sent you enough for a coffee I hope. :)
Perfect! That's exactly how I would do it. I am indifferent towards use of the GRP1 frame since it's not standard. But if you want to display it in Kid3 I'm OK with it.
Revised to correct some errors. (shading color just indicates the location where the data is shown in iTunes)

Such an unstandardized mess, isn't it. Description/Subtitle Yes I think changing the M4A mapping to 'desc' makes the most sense. But if you want to maintain compatibility with Mp3Tag and Tagscanner, maybe you could write both 'desc' and 'SUBTITLE'? I don't know how feasible that would be. Movement Sorry, I did not check if it was official. It is in fact, not part of ID3 v2.4 spec. I want to avoid anything not in spec because the implementation will be unpredictable. I retract my request for this...

More quick access frames
I found the tag relationship between Kid3 and iTunes very inconsistent and confusing (especially dates), so I made this chart with some common tags to help me with tagging my collection. Maybe it can help other users too.

disregard
The tags in this file show up in iTunes, but not Kid3.
This also worked. Thanks. %{EncodingParams} equals "" (no spaces)
the frame IDs are working better. This did return results: %{TSOP} equals ""
I think Encoding Params is a tag that iTunes adds.
I can't seem to make this {Sort Artist} work either. both of these return nothing even though I'm positive some files have this frame empty. %{Sort Artist} equals "" %{Sort Artist} matches "^$" So maybe Filters aren't set up for ID3V2.4?
Excellent thanks
The %{Encoding Params} variable does work in the "Format" boxes.
Is it possible to copy values from one tag to another directly, within the same version? eg. Tag2: Sort Album -> Album
Is it possible to Filter by tags not listed in the handbook? For example I tried filtering for files that contain the text "CD FLAC" in the "Encoding Params" tag (M4A file). This doesn't work: %{Encoding Params} contains "CD FLAC" Same problem with the "Format" tag (MP3 file).
I still wish there was a way to turn off this defaulting behaviour. When you apply a format to a few thousand files, and only a couple files don't match, then you don't notice an move on. You only find out later that their tags got completely jumbled up. I would rather get a warning.
I'm an idiot. It's right in the menu.
Hi. Is there a way to batch update v2.3 tags to 2.4 please? I'm trying to add the "Release Date" tag , but when I save the file the value just disappears. I have thousands of files in v2.3. Cheers.
cannot open display
OK so I need to make it automatic, but the description is confusing. The box where you enter a filname pattern is titled "Format". So when you are generating filenames from tags (using the Tag2 button for example), are you not "applying filename format"?
OK cool. I didn't know kid3 accepts regexs. Thank you.
Any idea why kid3 isn't replacing umlauts when renaming files from tags? Default settings. String replacement is turned on.
OK I discovered that if there's a underscore ("_") at the end of the filename, the format is overridden. Even if it is correct.
It's possible I had a typo in the format. Thank you.
I am pressing the 'Tag 2' button to create some tags for m4a files. The format is "%t - %s". Even though the format does NOT contain any reference to %{album}, the album tag (which I have entered previously) is being overwritten with something else. I have no idea where it's coming from (folder name, internet?). It is super annoying and I couldn't find any option to turn it off. What is this please?
The desription for this option is missing in the manual.
I wish I understood what you just said. Anyway great work. Love the program :)
I agree. Lets say I have a folder with a few hundred files, and I only want to work on tracks from one particular album or artist. It would be much easier if I could sort on other fields.
Worked. Thanks. Except it doesn't let me change back until I reach Lev 3. :)
