Dear Arthur, Eberhard Schruefer has already done the job of adapting your TeXmacs plugin for the use of more recent version of Reduce. See, [(https:/https://sourceforge.net/p/reduce-algebra/discussion/899363/thread/b197a4ea57/?limit=25#6fd4/)] . And it basically works out of the box – redcsl runs smoothly within TeXmacs. Thanks for putting me on the right track. Kind regards, Tilda

Dear Arthur, thanks for your fast reply and the detailed information concerning the severe difficulties of making PSL run on Silicon computers. Yet, the suggested work-around sounds promising. I will try to adapt your CSL version of the reduce plugin in a month or so, when I have a bit more time at hand, and possibly discuss this issue on the TeXmacs forum. As the your files are GPLed, I assume I can share them there. At any rate, I'll keep you informed. Kind regards, Tilda

Dear developpers, I installed the Reduce-snapshot_6658.dmg on an iMac M3 running under macOS 14.5. Unfortunately, I cannot run Reduce from within TeXmacs as their reduce-plugin relies on redpsl. Having read up on a discussion here on this forum [(https://https://sourcefor ge.net/p/reduce-algebra/discussion/899365/thread/78d7c6c9e3/)], I understand that getting PSL running on Apple Silicon computers would require a serious redesign of the memory handling of PSL. So I wonder if this redesign is considered...

Robert, I can not confirm your results. Running draw2d did not have an impact on the output of the 2nd plot2d run. I'm on macOS 10.15.7 and a ran your commands under Maxima 5.47.0 using Lisp SBCL 2.4.0, both, in a shell and within a TeXmacs 2.1.4 maxima session. On my MacPorts based system, plot2d outputs into an AquaTerm window, for reasons I do not understand. Wheras draw2d outputs correctly into a wxt-terminal, which is my standard gnuplot 5.4.8 terminal as configured in ~.gnuplot.

Dear Jeffrey, thanks for your in-depth instructions on how to setup Homebrew locally and install Reduce. You got me convinced to give Homebrew a go. As it can peacefully coexist with MacPorts on supported systems, I guess this will have to wait till I replace my old macintoshes in a year or two. Cheers Tilda

Dear Eberhard, thank you very much for your work. I installed the legacy-snapshot_6550.dmg on macOS 10.15.7, and it seems to be working fine: both all the csl apps and psl when called from within a TeXmacs session. I guess it will probably also run on macOS 10.13.6. I will let you know if it doesn't. Cheers Tilda

Dear Jeffrey, thanks for your suggestions. I have MacPorts installed on my computers and quite happy with it. I am a bit hesitant to install homebrew in addition to that. I'm not sure if it really is a good idea to have the two different package managers on one system. Cheers Tilda

Dear Arthur, thanks for your fast reply and both the detailed eplanations as well as the instructions on how to compile reduce from sources. Yet, at the moment I do not feel brave enough to do so on my own. I noticed that there is an older version of Reduce (2021-11-19) on MacPorts. I asked Mark Brethen, their maintainer, if there are plans to update the port to the latest Snapshot. If so, this might be good news for Reduce users working on older macOS computers. Cheers Tilda
