I've been searching for some instruction scripting the plymouth program so that a provided background can be stretched to fit what ever screen a person has, or to fit multiple screen sizes., without success. I then remember that the past versions of Parrot seemed to be able to do that, so I downloaded Parrot 4.5 & looked at it's plymouth. I think I've found the answer. I only know one other person in my area who uses linux, but his laptop has been down. I'm hoping that he gets it up so that I can...

Did it look bad without it being resized? The script is written so that the picture is centered. so I'm thinking a black screen around the wallpaper would appear. I'm thinking that there should be some kind of command like when using FEH to set wallpapers. In FEH one scripts it with the flag "-F, --fullscreen" Even in Nitrogen's GUI, you can select it to set the wallpaper to "full screen". I have no way to test it, as all my laptops are 1366x768. If that works, then it should work. the only issue...
Manuel, I've uploaded the plymouth as seen in the video I previously sent. You can download it at https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-parrot-respin-plymouth/ . There are a few things I need to make you aware of: 1) Firstly, although I put this together to make the Plymouth "my own" & in that sense I created it. Everything I used can be found on the internet & I combined them with the Parrot Plymouth. So I am more like someone who remodels a house rather than someone who builds the house from scratch....
When you extract the Plymouth theme folder, it will be named parrot6alt. Just copy it to your usr/share/plymouth/themes/ folder. The scripts are set up for the directory to be "parrot6alt". Then with the MX boot options gui, select the parrot6alt folder & click on "Apply". Reboot & theoretically it should work. Please forgive me if I've told you what you already know. I just wanted to make sure you understood that the scripts are set up for the folder to be named "parrot6alt".
When you extract the Plymouth theme folder, it will be named parrot6alt. For the moment, if you want to try it out, Go to usr/share/plymouth/themes & put the directory "parrot6" in another folder somewhere where you can find it. Then rename this folder parrot6. It should work no problem. Since I was making this for myself, to make things easy, this is what I did for myself. I wasn't thinking of someone who might want to switch back to the original parrot Plymouth theme. There is a way to have both...

No problem. I compressed it & it was 59 MB & I couldn't attach it. Let me figure out another way to do it. I was the same way about not changing things. For several years, maybe 12 yrs, I used Linux Mint & never changed a thing, just did my updates. About the time I switched to Parrot OS a few years back, I learned that I could customize the Mate desktop. That opened up a whole new world, of customization for me & I was hooked into making everything my own.
I altered the Parrot6 plymouth to include the name of your respin plus other alterations. Here's a video showing what I did.
Manuel Thank you so much for your quick reply. I did find that pausing "OpenSnitch" allowed the snapshot application to work. I had read somewhere before that one should stop all running programs when running the snapshot application. I wasn't used to having OpenSnitch on my operating system. I'm somewhat surprised that I haven't heard of it before. I live south of the equator, but not in any Spanish speaking country, nor did I take advantage of the time sometime back, when I lived in an area with...
At least someone accomplished what I've been wanting. I've did very similarily to what you've done with your other Parrot respin with the MX tools, but what you've done here is what I've been wanting. This is only my second day using it, so I will give a comment or review later on, after using it for a bit. I have a few questions. 1) When trying to make a snapshot, do I need to turn off snitch? I usually set up a snapshot either just before going to bed or when I'm going to be away from my laptop...
Which C-library is your respin based one?
I was wondering which C-library your respin was based on? It looks beautiful, by the way.
