How about a compromise. In case people start KeePass during bootup and minimized it sure would be annoying as well if they got nagged about an update without even touching the app. Nobody wants too many popups in their face once they start up their machine. So how about the update notification gets shown once the user maximizes KeePass but before the password, like a with two buttons: "Visit website" and "Proceed" (to the password prompt)? I have the exact same issue with the update notification...

YES! I did. Oh, I'm so sorry for bringing you on this wild goose chase. I must have forgotten about it a long time ago, I've been using KeePass for many many years. I've also forgotten that KeePass has an option like this. Now I remember why I have set a proxy. I got annoyed by update notifications that poppup up AFTER I have entered the master password during startup instead of appearing BEFORE prompting me for the password. Because if it were like in the latter case, I would just skip the prompt...

I updated to Windows 11 today. And the problem still persists. Not that I did the update as a means to fix this, it's just another bit of information that might help you find the bug.

Hm. Alright, as this points to an issue with my .NET installations, I have to fix that. I have quite a lot of different .NET frameworks installed (I think pre .NET Core even), which I've read somewhere isn't a good thing. Maybe KeePass uses a deprecated or broken version? Or me or some software I have once installed has disabled or misconfigured network access for .NET runtimes somehow? I'll have to investigate that, but my knowledge of managing and identifying errors in .NET installs/environments...
