1 MB isn't that big. I'm around 10 MB atm... As far as I understand it, there is no hard file size limit for the database itself. However, the file size for any given attachment, is (if I remember correctly) ~4GB.

Did you check if both files have the same checksum?
You have to recover the exact picture, there is no way around it.

I have the problem that, when I mistyped my password or I click "Cancel" sometimes I am just stuck in this secure desktop window. The password entry window is gone and I have a complete white screen without any window or the ability to exit. Even CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and aborting VeraCrypt.exe won't release me from this "white screen". The only option is to reboot my computer. I'm on WIN 11 64-bit, using VeraCrypt 1.25.9
