By the way, today windows are appearing on separate desktops! Yesterday I tried stopping and restarting VirtuaWin with no effect. I didn't think of restarting Win 11. That must have reset whatever incompatibility was haunting my machine yesterday. Cheers!
It's good to know you're still around! I've relied on VirtuaWin to keep my sanity while working in the Microsoft arena. I'm sorry to hear that you're not keeping up with Win 11. I was forced into it when my old laptop died, and that's the only OS that HP installs on their machines now. By the way, when I asked Google Bard for a multi-desktop layer on top of Win 11, It recommended several (paid) solutions. I asked why it didn't recommend VirtuaWin. It apologized and said that it existed, but development...

Firefox windows appear on every desktop

Desktops don't always get the correct desktop image.
Your link for GD3 doesn't work.
I tried this in PL 1.9.3. No keyboard modifiers (shift, control, function, alt) or combinations of those modifiers seem to cause the scrollwheel to scroll the task list vertically. It should, scroll vertically, just like every other program. Many programs use shift-scrollwheel to scroll horizontally. Windows 10.
They are both working now!
Firefox is working! Aspire is not.
I upgraded to 4.5 beta, and that didn't change anything. Then I rebooted, and now it is working. I don't think I'm running VW elevated, but I'm back to being productive again. Thanks!
Here are the config files. There are others, one per desktop, but they each contain the name of a background image. Thanks for looking!
Here's a screenshot from when I open the VirtuaWin window list. If a window is sticky, then there's a check mark in the right column. None of the windows have a checkmark in that column.
If I did, it would be accidently, because I don't know how to make all the windows for an application sticky or unsticky. I don't want any windows to be sticky.
I'm using VirtuaWin 4.4 on Windows 10, Firefox 75.0 64-bit. Firefox (75.0 (64-bit)used to obey VirtuaWin, but now all my Firefox windows appear on all the desktops. Thunderbird still behaves. Any idea what's changed, or what to do about it? Thanks, Steve
I unadvertantly tried that, and it didn't help. This is the first rule I've modified. I haven't created any other rules.
I am having the same problem on Windows 10. I had a rule: CN: XLMAIN Window name: <blank> </blank> Process name: <blank> [x] Window rule enabled * Let VirtuaWin decide whether to manage windows * Main window of multiple taskbar buttons * On hidden window activation: Default - configured in main Setup * Method for hiding the window: Hide using standard method * Method for hiding taskbar button: Hide by using toolwin flag</blank> I changed Method for hiding the window to "Hide by move window", but...
Middle click doesn't do anything, so I added a HotKey for Ctrl-Alt-W. It brings up the Rules. Class Name is filled out, Window rule Enabled, changed to Always manage, Hide using standard method, Hide by move window, and Hide by minimizing windwo, all display the window on every desktop.
I checked the online help... 1. The help file for the Window Rules say there are 3 fields: * Class Name * Window Name * Program Name 2. The Windows Rules dialog has Process Name instead of Program Name. * Documentation should match the program. * The Window Info shows a Process Name <unknown>, Handle 5100e4, Process: 26916... What do I use for Process Name?</unknown> Thanks for your help! Steve
I have a program that doesn't hide when switching desktops. I saw in the FAQ that I'm supposed to put something into tricky.cfg, but it's not clear how I find the name of the application (is it the name of the .exe?) or what the syntax of the line would be. I saw something else that said that tricky.cfg doesn't exist any more. Thanks for any help you can give, Steve
The application accepts the arrow keys with and without the ctrl and alt modifiers...
The keystrokes are accepted by VW and the application, instead of being captured...
modified arrow keys are passed to apps when changing desktops
I tried this with Stock Investor Pro, and have the same problem. When I select that...
