@Mohit: don't know if your problem is related to my problem, but it very well could be? I used the Revit sample house to demonstrate the problem. There's a wall type with wood cladding that's placed a couple of times in the project . When exported to IFC, one of those walls shows up correctly, with all dimensions and other properties, while the other does not. I.e. it not only doesn't show th correct dimensional properties, it also doesn't show additional properties. See attached example screenshot....

Last week, I've been talking with one of the Autodesk support persons. We tried several things. Conclusion: there's a bug and the case is transferred to the developers.

No answers yet, so I did some more testing. In Revit 2017, I loaded the sample house and exported it to IFC. IFC Settings are pretty simple - on tab 'Property Sets' only 'Export base quantities' is checked. And it doesn't matter what the other settings are - the result is the same. Then I open the IFC file in Navisworks 2017 and pick the roof. On the Properties panel, Navisworks does NOT show a 'Base Quantities' tab. Same for walls of the house. But when you pick a retaining wall at the drive way,...

When exported from Revit 2017/ 2018 (latest IFC Exporter) to IFC, not all elements in the IFC file have the same dimensional properties as they do in Revit. For example, a Floor in Revit has the dimensional properties Perimeter, Area, Volume and Thickness. Yet, that same Floor only has it's Perimeter and Area values in the IFC file. When I pick a different Floor, it only has it's Area listed in IFC. This applies to other elements as well, so I wonder if there are issues with exporting dimensional...

Ah, right under my nose :) The 'Classification Manager' seems like a nice tool, but has to be tailored to the local (Dutch) standards. Simply don't have time for that....

A text map :) One that says: for Revit Category 'Wall' you need to set the value of the 'IfcExportAs' parameter to 'IfcWall'. This is mostly used with Generic Models, when there's no way to set the Family Category to a Revit Category. Stairs are a good example - most of the time they are modeled as a Generic Model, since Revit doesn't offer a Loadable Stairs Family. But they have to be exported to IFC as a Stair. I already created that map, see attachment, but it's not complete... Simon

I've been searching for a Mapping table Revit Categories and IfcExportAs. I.e. I want to know which value for IfcExportAs I have to fill in for a given Revit Category. Anybody?
