The reason i asked is because XZ is one of the few (if not the only) method that supports random access to parts of the file without having to read or decompress the entire file, in mainline. Without having to rely on own method or special methods to do so. And ZIPs with XZ is the only way (that i how of) to have a container of files you can access randomly and then random access into each file. This is why i asked about block sizes sice thats a critical part of that. Thanks for you help.

Thanks, the -mc and -mcc do work. Dictionary no so much, it might affect the block size, but 1mb dic dosent create 1mb blocks, i can tell from the file size. Question, there is any plans to add these options to the 7z UI? Right now XZ dosent appears as an option for zips, and offcourse no option no block sizes. Neither it is for .7z format, but i belive XZ is no supported for the 7z format right?

I know zip as a whole dosent support solid blocks, but the XZ format does. And since the file is compressed individually in a zip, why does the "-s=" or "-ms" switch dosent work when doing -tzip and -mm=XZ? Or maybe i completely missed how to do it, i know this is not enabled on the actual UI, so this is something that is not fully supported?
