That was useful, could only find avahi-daemon listed in /etc/init.d which I've disabled by installing sysv-rc-conf and toggling the service off which persisted a restart. Please mark Resolved. Many thanks
Thanks for confirmation, Cavy. Using pstree it looked like a couple of the services were running. The Sys V commands to stop, disable or mask services should be either service or chkconfig but neither are recognised on my distro. I'm guessing I need to install them?
Thanks for confirmation, Cavy. Using pstree it looked like a couple of the services were running so if there are no equivalent syv commands to stop, disable or mask services then I'll mark (Resolved).

And the three reported errors are: [ 2.684593] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0._OSC.CAPB], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20200925/dsfield- 184) [ 2.684691] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, CreateBufferField failure (20200925/dswload2-477) [ 2.684766] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0._OSC due to previous error (AE_ALREADY_EXISTS) (20200925/psparse-529) After some research I found a solution on askubuntu - Ubuntu 22.04 ACPI BIOS ERROR (BUG) and added "loglevel=3" as instructed....
Would it be possiblie or even desirable to indicate applicability to Debian or Devuan spins? For example systemctl command is not part of my Devuan 32-bit install so am thinking it mut be Debian specific i.e. systemd associated.
