That was useful, could only find avahi-daemon listed in /etc/init.d which I've disabled by installing sysv-rc-conf and toggling the service off which persisted a restart. Please mark Resolved. Many thanks

Thanks for confirmation, Cavy. Using pstree it looked like a couple of the services were running. The Sys V commands to stop, disable or mask services should be either service or chkconfig but neither are recognised on my distro. I'm guessing I need to install them?

Thanks for confirmation, Cavy. Using pstree it looked like a couple of the services were running so if there are no equivalent syv commands to stop, disable or mask services then I'll mark (Resolved).

I'm looking to stop, disable or mask services from the Boot Start-Up process as per the Wiki. What commands should I be using or need to install?

And the three reported errors are: [ 2.684593] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Failure creating named object [\_SB.PCI0._OSC.CAPB], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20200925/dsfield- 184) [ 2.684691] ACPI Error: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, CreateBufferField failure (20200925/dswload2-477) [ 2.684766] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PCI0._OSC due to previous error (AE_ALREADY_EXISTS) (20200925/psparse-529) After some research I found a solution on askubuntu - Ubuntu 22.04 ACPI BIOS ERROR (BUG) and added "loglevel=3" as instructed....

Would it be possiblie or even desirable to indicate applicability to Debian or Devuan spins? For example systemctl command is not part of my Devuan 32-bit install so am thinking it mut be Debian specific i.e. systemd associated.

I'm seeing three lines of ACPI BIOS errors on boot - never seen this before with PMOS10 and prior spins. Apparently these errors can be ignored but I would like to hide or get rid of them. I tried using ACPI=off in boot parameters but that just generated a slew of other errors. So suggestions welcome to hide these messages as well as the boot up and shutdown log messages. Otherwise I'm happy with the performance....

Plan B worked with %age process updating - thanks for that! I selected Peppermint (686 PAE) from the boot menu and ran into the NumLk issue as reported elsewhere even after rebooting from the USB. Was able to install Falkon and youtube-dl from the Web browser menu but these disappeared upon reboot. Am I right to assume that this is because of lack of persistence?

I ran Gparted then Disks again as per wiki but the progress bar does not update and the wheel on the USB stick panel continues spinning even thuogh I can see that bootable USB has been created. Having waited some time I closed Disks accepting the job still running warning. I am running both Gparted and DIsks on a POS10 netbook.

This is just looking for some general advice about the menu that appears when booting from my new Peppermint Devuan USB prior to installation. If I select any menu options, e.g. choose browser, will that election be configured on bootable USB Devuan and then be installed if I decide to go ahead on the target device? In the past I've just gone directly to install for POS10 and < so this is new to me...

Thanks, Cavy - I'm going to hang on for the Devuan base. Presumably there will be an announcement at some point when this ISO is available for download?

Thank you from Screagle as well - I hope this is not a stupid question but does "If you are already running Peppermint you DO NOT need to reinstall your system you can already apply the changes by running the patch script located at our community wiki" apply to current users of POS10 32-bit? If not then perhaps publish a wiki on this specific topic? I'm sticking with Peppermint thanks to your support for 32-bit...
