Hi Mikael, John has updated the scamp firmware and I've just tried it, but unfortunately the USB problem on windows persists. Regards, Stefan.

    Great, thanks Mikael.

Hi, I've updated my scamp boards with the latest Udamonic firmware, but Windows 10/11 is unable to detect the USB-CDC and returns Unknown USB Device (Invalid configuration descriptor). Rolling back to the previous Scamp3 release works fine. I have no trouble running the latest version firmware on Linux. Could this be a windows-only issue with the latest FlashForth release?

Exciting news Peter, interactive line editing and history sounds like a great enhancement. Many thanks for making this available, Tachyon is a great Forth implementation.

Hi Peter, as soon as I enter !ED the P2 resets. I tried entering each word of !ED at the terminal and it resets when I type 256 KB FSIZE!. FSIZE! appears to be an ALIAS for FMAKE but I don't seem to have that defined. Is there another file that I need to load first? UPDATE: I found FMAKE in FLAT32.FTH, added it to FRED.FTH and now I'm up and running.

I can't get it to run for some reason. I'm using a P2 eval board and loaded the latest TAQOZ and it reports the same version as your screenshot. I've tried sending with ./s FRED USB0 10 and the terminal waits a while before reporting 645 lines of code loaded. Then, when I type 'ED' it resets the P2. I've also tried pasting the code in with the same result. It's probably something obvious but I'm not seeing it at the moment. Any ideas?

    That's great, thank you.

Hi Peter, I haven't been able to successfully load FRED onto the P2 but I might not be going about it the right way. I tried pasting the contents of FRED.FTH but that would just lock up. What is the best way to load on the P2? I'm finding it really convenient to be able to test/edit/load on the pico using FRED so makes sense to be able to do it on the P2 as well. I'm just mucking around at the moment, but I have a jackpot display board from an old gaming machine that I'd like to drive so just deciding...

Hi Peter. I've found a version of FRED for the P2 in your dropbox folder dated 27/05/2022 which I'm going to try using tonight. Is that the latest version or have you made some changes that haven't been updated on dropbox yet?

I'm a bit confused about which FRED I should be loading. Is it FRED.FTH in the forth folder or one of the FRED files in SDCARD FILES?

Success! It turned out I had to disconnect the GPIO leds by cutting the jumper on the underside of the makerpico board. Now the on-board socket is working so I can dispense with the makeshift SD adapter. Thanks for your help along the way :)

Hi Peter, I couldn't get the SD card working using the socket on my makerpico so I soldered up an SD card adapter as described on facebook. After I re-assign the pins for the external socket and type MOUNT, I now get 'Invalid Partition' and there is a couple of values left on the stack (see attachment). I'm obviously doing something wrong here. I've tried formatting the SD card to FAT32 using many different methods. What do you use to format your cards?

Hi Peter, Yes, the card is a brand new Sandisk 32GB SDHC card formatted to FAT32 and I can read the CID, manufacturer etc using linux so pretty sure the card is good. I'll do some more investigating tomorrow. Thanks, Stefan.

Thanks for that Sergio. I hadn't really considered that the SD socket might be faulty, but I did purchase the makerpico off Aliexpress so sounds like that could be a possibility. I'll do some more investigating using Peter's suggestions and then try connecting the additional card if I don't have any luck with the onboard socket.

Hi Peter, I'm trying to get the Tachyon extensions with FRED set up on my MakerPi Pico but am not able to mount the SD card, it keeps coming up with bad CID. I've tried a new card and formatted as FAT32 but no luck. I noticed an entry in the Tachyon changelog about problems with the MakerPico SD card set-up and provision for an external adapter. Were you able to get things working with the on-board SD socket?

Brilliant! I have a Maker Pi Pico, could I try this out now or do you have more work to do on it? I'm guessing it is on your dropbox?

Wow, this looks great. Have I got this right - you are writing and editing code on the RP2040 and then immediately running that code from the REPL?

I’ll join the Blinkin Newbie bandwagon! I’m an electronics technician and while I have a keen interest in microcontrollers, I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a programmer. I was introduced to microcontrollers in my first job as an electronics technician at a casino. At the time there was a lot of in-house development of jackpot signage, mostly flashing strip lighting and playing music upon a jackpot hit and almost all controlled with PIC microcontrollers programmed in assembly language. It was...
