OK, thanks. I copied that to .Xdefaults and added a soft link to .Xresources, but it did not increase the size of the buttons and menu. I tried resetX and restarting the computer, but that did not work either. How can I tell if I am using an X11 based GUI?

Thanks for the reply, Andreas. As I said, I am not a software engineer per se, and I don't know much about windowing systems. I understand that Motif is old and unsupported, but xmgrace still runs on my newer Ubuntu Linux machine. I guess I should try QtGrace, but I will need detailed instructions. I assume those can be found in the download. Let me explain how I am using xmgrace. I started many years ago using it to generate .agr plot files. Sorry if this post is a bit off-topic, but I am just trying to get a better idea of the status of xmgrace. The GRACE website seems to be mothballed, so I am trying this site. I may eventually use QtGRACE, but at this point I am just trying to continue using xmgrace. I am a NASA engineer, and I have been using xmgrace for perhaps 20 years or more for my work on air traffic management. I am not a software developer per se, but I do some development in Scala in support of my own ideas and research....
