I am not sure how much this is helpful, but from my literature survey, I found the following: Bentley software seems to implement the Method of Characteristics or MoC. KYPipe implements another method called the Wave Method that they've developed, and looking at some of their videos, it looks quite doable. They also have many demo videos that explain application of the different BCs they consider at nodes, ends (open and closed), etc. I found a recent paper by a group in Denmark (Jensen et al) that...

Thank you Frank and Dan! You confirmed my understanding of v5. I was anyway looking for something coming up in v6, hoping it is a dynamic simulator. But thank you Daniel for clarifying that it is not coming up in the next release. I would be glad in case any of you have some specific links to get the theory behind to read up! Best regards, Sam

Hi, Can we do surge analysis using DWSIM? Any example in this regard? Regards, Sam

Sorry for coming in so late, but I was wondering how DWSIM evaluates standard enthlpy of formation for compounds, while considering reactions. E.g., if I consider: CH4 + H2O <-> CO + 3H2 How does DWSIM evaluate the standard enthalpy and entropy of formation of CH4, H2O and CO? Thanks in advance. I am revisiting many of these concepts after a long time. Sam

Thanks Daniel for answering. Well, if I try to make the F3 variable AUX, its presence in the objective does not matter, as the objective is clearly not the minimum possible (we can solve this objective with flow balance constraint by hand, using Lagrange multiplier). And setting it as DEP gives an index error, if it is included in the objective. Anyway, I see that the Cross-platform UI does the task that I intend - adjust the 3 flow rates close to the measurements and maintain the flow balance. I...

May I know which Ubuntu flavour are you using? On my Ubuntu 16, even trying to drag the right corner does not get me anywhere. I can attach an gif animation tomorrow for confirmation tomorrow.

I tried on the OS (using Unity Tweak Tools), and also on the Global Settings in DWSIM; but it did not help. I am attaching an image to show what it looks like. Thanks, Sam
