Ha! Brilliant! I never needed this before and didn't know it was there. Worked great, thank you very much.
Thanks, but it seems I didn't explain the situation well enough. The backup has a Virtualmin folder, and copying it along with the webmin folder handled 90% of the sites very well. But the last backup happened BEFORE the latest sites were added in Virtualmin. The sites themselves are there (apache) but Virtualmin doesn't know about them. So I can't "import" them because there's nothing to export them with. Unless the export feature you speak of is a feature I don't know about. I am thinking the backup/restore...
Thank you, this worked, mostly. I needed to restore /etc/webmin from an earlier backup. My most recent backup was from just before webmin disappeared, and in that time period there were two or three subdomains created for an existing account. These don't show up in Virtualmin. although the web sites themselves are operating OK. How do I get them back into VIrtualmin? Thanks.
Thanks Ilia. When I run this script I get: Webmin detected ... Error: the current dir does not contain a valid webmin or usermin installation, aborting ... The directory currently contains: filemin mysql update-from-repo.sh virtual-server mount sysstats virtualmin-svn (I'll add that the task at hand IS to upgrade the server, I want to use webmin for some prep... backups, migrations, etc.)

Thanks. I was distracted for the last couple of weeks and am now back on this. I tried this, after doing an apt-get update, and get the following: Package webmin is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'webmin' has no installation candidate This is an old server running Ubuntu 14.04. The task at hand is to upgrade it and I wanted to use webmin to assist with that, and...
I've been a webmin user for many years.... not seen this before. I have a well seasoned Ubuntu server that's been running webmin/virtualmin nicely. But now webmin is gone. Most of the files/folders in the /usr/share/webmin are missing, what remains is only filemin mount mysql sysstats virtualmin-svn virtual-server As best I can correllate, this might have happened during a webmin upgrade a couple of weeks ago. How best to proceed? Naturally I want to get all my configurations back if they exist somewhere...
