I think that this could be a great source of frustration for newly adopters and as it stands, Gatekeeper will most likely not be going away and the situation may only get worse. I was thinking: a) Is there an open source organization that provides valid certificates for app signing or that offers its Apple developer account to sign open source apps like Freeplane? b) If the Freeplane community steps up and manages to sponser the project an Apple developer account, would that be a good idea?
